2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Quite a while ago I had this beer and so far the only beer from Kenya Iīve tasted. Bottle. Quite light straw colour. Malty aroma. Fresh neutral flavour with a bit crisp bitterish aftertaste.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Bottle 30 cl) Comes as "Tusker Malt Lager". Nice fully golden colour, fair off-white but dissipating head. Floral, hoppy aroma. Flavour is dominated by sweet malt - quite straight and pleasant. A very decent brew. Thanks for this Dorte - greatly appreciated. 140106

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2007 An excellent brew, of all the East African beers, this is the best IMHO. mild aftertaste, nice smell, hard to get outside Africa.. (well, hard to get in Ireland) one of my favorite beers.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Tusker Malt Lager. 25 June 2005. Bottle.
Fizzy white head that just vanishes. Very pale yellow. Smells of corn (maize?) a little, something grassy and, in a weird way, slightly of green beans. Tastes a little better than it smells, but is kind of plasticky. Head to head with other Ugandans (mine says itís "Brewed by Uganda Breweries, Ltd.") I think itís better than Bell, but comes in behind Nile Special.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A minor oasis in the beer desert that is Africa. Straw colour, short head that at least showed some length. If itís fresh, the aroma is the best thing about it - vanilla notes and citric hops. Thin bodied and quenching. Dominated by malt to the extent that thereís no real finish. Bland but inoffensive. (Bottle)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Heineken like, watery. There is some sour hops in there too. Friends who travelled Africa extensively in the 70's told me that refridgerated beverages were scarce there (Africa) at that time. This must be drunk ice cold or it might be offensive. I'm trying to be creative without saying Elephant Piss.

1.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
A really bad all malt beer. Sweet and not enough hops. I expected alot more from a beer that states it is made with only hops, malt water and yeast..

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Nice pale golden color.Small white head that had a decent staying power.malty, hoppy sweet aroma.Malty taste with a medium sweetness and very mild hop taste.i know this is some old brew even if it say's drink before april of '03 it lacks quite a bit IMO The taste isn't as terrible as some others i've had today but it isn't great eather. There is that same metallic taste with a medicinal hint and the after taste is malty with no hops present. It's worth the try but not worth drinking it in volume.vVery forgettable IMO.

When there is nothing better available this will do. It is reasonably malty but it lacks the balance of the hops. When consumed fresh, ie in Kenya, it is OK.
