Brewed to survive the voyage from England to India, this medium gold colored ale has a very assertive bitterness to create a decidedly hoppy pale ale

On tap at the brewery during RBSG 2012. Clear gold with a white head. Caramel malty with a little bit of Fruity Pebbles sugariness, grapefruity hops, sweet and thin at the same time. Decent bitterness.

Draught at the brewpub during RBSG. Clear, amber liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of mango, citrus, grass, grapefruit, cereal, caramel and biscuit. Taste is dry and medium to high bitter with citrus and biscuit. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Bit too malty, bit too little hops.

On draft at the brewpub. It pours golden with an off white head. The aroma is dank with some tropical fruit and a little citrus. The flavor is citrus, dank with some spice and a hint of caramel. Good full body and a really nice citrusy finish. A great standard brewpub IPA.

On tap at Tustin Brewing. New recipe and it shows. Pours a medium orange with little visibility and 1/3" of white foam. Aroma is floral hop and citrus. Taste is well balanced citrus and some malt notes that at first seem to be off putting but soon balance out the whole beer and you realize this is an IPA. More hop forward than anything else but the West Coast it is. Overall, love this beer.

03-Nov-10 (Draft: Tustin Brewing Co. in Tustin, CA) This fairly standard West Coast IPA pours a clear amber body and an off-white head that rises to half an inch before settling to a ring. It proudly boasts a big, bright citrus nose that is highly aromatic, and this sets the stage nicely for the strongly bitter, grapefruit hoppiness that washes over the palate. The pale ale malts are dry and very clean, and the hops are citrusy in the entry, but piney in the finish. It’s reasonably well balanced for a West Coast IPA, but clearly the hops are the focus as the sips mount. Medium in body with a dry, very crisp mouthfeel from start to finish and medium carbonation. Doily-like lacing covers much of the glass. A very good example of the style, but it’s still a bit too resiny and bitter for my tastes.

Draft @ the brewpub. Nose is pretty subdued, a little sweet fruit and slight piney. Taste is a lot more grapefruit/bitterness than in the nose, with a nice sweetness finishing. Carbonation and mouthfeel are just spot-on, easy drinker. Was good, but stacked against the RR guest taps (RR IPA, Blind Pig and Pliny), it was hard to order another.
