COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed to survive the voyage from England to India, this medium gold colored ale has a very assertive bitterness to create a decidedly hoppy pale ale

Tap a the brewpub. Rating #16. Very dark dense amber pour with a decent off-white head. Aroma was nice citrus and a little pine, juicy as well. Flavor was also piney with a touch more citrus, very nice IPA. (1294)

was expecting a bit bolder hop profile but this is mellow bitterness wise. similar to the red velvet from Eagle Rock. pretty smooth.

Appearance: Pours a bright clear copper with a small head.

Aroma: Melon and cat pee.

Taste: Big grapefruity funk and a piney bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and astringent.

Overall: Real good, but I didnít get any rye notes.

On tap. Brewer said this was nearly two months old, but still tasted pretty fresh to me. Pours with a clear orange body and a long lasting white head with great lace. Aroma of strong orange citrus and light hops. (C-hops and some simcoe). Taste is really nice, herbal, citrus and dank. Fresh smelling. Light caramel. Very nicely attenuated. Creamy carbonation, good bitterness, dry and well made!

A: The pour is gold in color with a minimal white head. Perhaps a ring around the top. S: A decent but not amazing nose on this beer. Grapefruit and a slight pine are the sum of the hop aromas with some caramel malt filling in the rest of the sniff. T: The flavor is an improvement over the nose. Good grapefruit flavor with a decent array of floral hops as well. There is some definite caramel malt in the middle with a decently bitter finish. M: Medium in body and maybe a bit light on the carbonation. D: Perhaps if we werenít so spoiled in terms of IPAs, I would think this one was better. That said, we are spoiled here in Southern California and this is just a middle of the road (maybe a bit better) example.

Clear amber color/ beige head. Big pine, grapefruit hop aromas. Rich, smooth mouthfeel. Nice pine and grapefruit hoppy flavors on a solid spicy sweet malt base. good.

On tap. A very nice beer overall. Poured a dirty amber/gold color with a small white head. Aroma was quite strong with citrus/grapefruit rounded out with a bit of caramel and fruit. Flavor had a strong hop presence. Tasty too. Alot of citrus. Flavor lingers for a while. Impressive effort.

Some oddly downer ratings for this thing. I thought the nose was overly dry but sufficiently dank; the color made me want to slam it - nice drinkable orange gold; the flavor was a nice creamy shroud over its ample hop character, and though it didnít take full advantage of botanicals or citrus notes that it was very good. I donít know, maybe I have the lowest standards.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Solid grapefruity, light wineous fruity aroma. Flavour is fresh wine grapes, light leathery and vague spiced hops flavoured. Light fruity and solid bitter flavoured finish.
