wunderbier (1266), Tampere, Rovaniemi over summer, Finland Apr 3, 2008 Draught @ Gastropub Nordic, ~50cl serving. Beautiful pour revealing a creamy and tight white head over a golden hued body with hints of lemon and peach cast by a light haze. Served a bit on the cold side, but some grassy and herbal bitterness comes through against a backdrop of pale malt, white bread and banana nut bread. Spicy, citric hops shine through with warmth; orange rind and grapefruit. The taste has a creamy sweetness with a peppery twist. It picks up some apples and then dives into a citrus-pith finish with a long, slow and bitter aftertaste. Feels a bit weighty, just over medium, and has a creamy texture yet the inextinguishable pinpoint carbonation and zesty flavours keep it afloat and make the whole affair rather refreshing and quenching.
oh6gdx (5700), Vaasa, Finland Jun 18, 2008 Draught. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is anis and fruits along with some yeasty notes. Flavour is sweet malts, some honey and a lot of grassy hops. Quite much yeastyness in flavour too. mjs (481), Helsinki, Finland May 11, 2008 (Draught at Pikkulintu on 2008-03-19) Hazy and golden. Nose contains fruity and hoppy notes. Dryish palate. Weak bodied. Fruity and yeasty taste. Pleasant bitterness. A bit musty. Jukkabro (2349), Tampere, Finland Apr 8, 2008 Dark yellow colored with slightly hazy appearance. Little white head. Rich flowery hopped aroma with caramel and some lemon also. Fine aroma, still style is rather hard to come up with. Medium bodied. Flavor is also dominated by flowery hops, some vegetables also present with fine bitterness. As advertized somewhere, light version from XX bitter. sayravai (3037), Helsinki, Finland Mar 18, 2008 (Draught@Pikkulintu) Slightly hazy golden with a small, lacy and partly lasting head. Lemony-hoppy aroma with a dry, saison-style feel. Grassy-lemony-hoppy, yeasty flavor with some pilsenery maltiness to balance it. Light to medium-bodied palate with smooth carbonation. This would be a crisp and refreshing summer brew, but the hops are slightly harsh, making it less drinkable. Sure, it tastes a bit like XX bitter - but as only the malt part is halved, the balance is not as perfect. Markku asked me to thank Sami Lappalainen in my rating, so here goes... :)
