Twains Barrel Aged Tidy Soul

Growler thanks to Jordan. Dark brown, Porter colored. Lots of smoke. Banana has been kinda mellowed out a bit. Nice and smooth. Total change from the original Tidy Soul. Hint of wood , very distant whiskey. I could sip dis all day m’fer! So soft.

Appearance: Pours a clearish, dark brown body with an altogether thin, bubbly, beige head. Smell: Aroma of smoked, malted dark wheat with all of the expected barrel notes. Taste: Smoke-infused dark wheat malts with a light kick of tanginess. Further tastes of dark caramel and toasted bread crusts. Patience; give it a second... ah, there come the whiskey flavors of vanilla, charred oak, brown sugar, and coconut shavings. The banana from the original iteration seems to have left shop! More smokey, toasty wheat with barrel-aging hints until the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Near still, carbonationwise. Drinkability: Quite tasty. The barrel aging adds another layer of complexity to what was an already enjoyable brew.

Aroma: big smokey aroma balanced with background sweet banana, dry earthyness from the smoke, more oak than bourbon
Flavor: rich chocolate flavor, plenty of earthy smoke, touch of bourbon and vanilla sweetness, smoke saturates after a while allowing more of the chocolate to come through, no sign of the banana sweetness from the base beer

sweet and slightly smoky aroma. Pours a medium brown slightly red. Flavor is initially sweet with notes of roasted, smoky caramel. Reasonably thick body. Good brew

Growler: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a thin spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of rich smoky caramel and malted wheat with a hint of oaky bourbon. Starts with good fullness and toasty dark caramel malt with lots of smoky complexity before a bready German yeasty finish. Well-balanced with good complexity and drinkability.
