jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Feb 4, 2009 Updated: Feb 13, 2009On cask at the cask ale festival. Pours clear brown color. The sour is cleansing on the palate and stingingly sweet. Slight fruit flavor with a nice and smooth malt body. Earthy, funky aroma from your brett. ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Feb 1, 2009 Appearance: Hazed, dark brown body with a thin, bubbly, off-white head.
Smell: Dusty, woody maltiness plus all the fine, funky Brett qualities of aged leather, stale cotton, and cobwebby basements along with a grody scent of ground up cherries -- pits, stems, leaves and all!
Taste: Dark, woody malt character with only a mild amount of malty sweetness. Then, we’re treated to tart, sourish black cherries. The next course is a plate of Bretty funk, though comparatively light. Tiny, tiny hint of bitterness. Finishes bone dry, with a lingering wood bark taste and distant hint of mashed cherries.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Solid and enjoyable. Way to really mix things up, Jordan! Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA Feb 1, 2009 Cask at Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting. Pour is brown with a slight beige head. Aroma of fruit, cherry, and some like brett funk. Taste is a little fruity, with some slightly sour notes, not really all that fruity or sour. Malt gives some sweetness. Really not very sour or fruity. Mouth is dry. An interesting brew. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Feb 1, 2009 Cask at the Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting.
Pours a hazy brown with hints of purple underneath a small off-white head that recedes quickly leaving no lacing.
The aroma had lots of sweet and tart cherry whiffs with a hint of funk from the Brett though it’s not overpowering. There is some brown sugar sweetness and hints of Belgian yeast sweetness.
The taste was sour as well with both tart cherries and a little barnyard funk, though not much. There is less sweetness to balance the sourness in the taste.
The mouthfeel is slick and slightly wine-like with a dry finish.
This is a good take on the style and quite drinkable with a pretty low-key funkiness. pintocb (508), Darsville, Georgia, USA Feb 1, 2009 Looks right....brown and earthy, but not as sour as I like my sour ales. Some good fruity flavor, and spicy hops. The finish is very dry. Just not enough sour.
