CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Apr 21, 2007 On tap at the brewpub on 1/26/07: Pours an opaque black with a dark brown, wispy lacing head. Aroma of earthy, roasty dark malts with a touch of sweet dark chocolate. Flavor is full of roasty sweet caramel and dark chocolate along with a piny bittering hoppy presence. Body is a little thin, but its very drinkable for a stout. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Feb 17, 2007 Somewhat heavy, velvety and smooth. It looks the way a stout should, and has decent body. I recommend this to all who like dark beers. beerist (14), Athens, Georgia, USA Feb 15, 2007 Pours totally black with a thick, creamy brown head (actually seemed overcarbonated as the bartender had to pour it in 2 parts). Looks absolutely marvelous. Smell is roasty bitter with hints of chocolate. Taste is BIG for a non imperial stout. There’s a big roasty character with a burnt bitterness. Just enough residual sugars remain to balance the bitter roast. Palate is pretty thick - not as thick as some imperials, but I’d say it’s about perfect for a plain "stout." Overall an excellent beer from an excellent brewpub. pintocb (508), Darsville, Georgia, USA Jan 28, 2007 Dark and oily. Not much head, but what there is is a dark, dark brown. Smells like chocolate and espresso with some almost burnt notes. Tastes wonderful. Lots of coffee and chocolate and the finish lasts forever.
