Commercial Description:
Cask, Occasional;
A strong, well-hopped ale. Powerful golden coloured beer with a fruity, citrus nose and flavour. A veritable Hop Bomb, with over a kilo of hops per brewers barrel, it avoids being too bitter with a skillful blend of American hops, making this a beer to be reckoned with. Silver in the Strong Ale category at 2006 Peterborough Beer Festival, an overall Silver in the Local Beer Competition at the 2007 Reading Beer Festival, and Silver in its category at both 2008 and 2009 SIBA SE Beer Competitions.

Draught. Low white fluffy and quickly disappearing off-white head. Clear golden body. Acidic lemon aroma and flavor with little hops bitternes. Low carbonation and a short aftertaste.

Gravity Cask @ Reading Beer Festival 07. Pale. Sweet and spciy. Zesty fruit and a sweet finish. Could do with a bit more hop but pretty good considering the strength.

Cask at Ealing Beer on Broadway, 2006. Clear gold and sparklingly clear. Hop aroma. Sweet, thick malt and plenty of hops to taste. Another hoppy beer from the brewer, this incarnation being quite alcoholic.

Cask at The Bricklayer’s Arms, Putney, 29th Sept 2007. Very slightly hazy gold appearance. Aroma of caramel and butterscotch which carries over into the flavour - it’s sweet butterscotch and toffee. The characteristic slickness of diacetyl is evident in the palate (along with alcoholic warmth) and overall, I found it distastefully sweet and sickly. Given the other ratings, I probably got a bad barrel and will try it again.

Handpull @ ’Sporks, Crosse Keys. Pale amber with a thin white head. Extremely sweet malty nose with a little citrus hop beneath. Offensively sweet and cloying but has a nice bitter finish. Way too sweet for my taste, I couldn’t even finish a half.

8th August 2008. On tap at GBBF. Clear golden beer. Sharpish palate. Some IPAish hops and some wheaty malt. Bitterish finish. Difficult to pin down.

Cask at SIBA beer festival, Kent: Amber coloured beer. Very sweet but not overly cloying. Hides it’s strength extremely well. Lots of citrus with a nice amount of hops. Yeah, good beer.
