Commercial Description:
Cask, Occasional;
Powerful golden coloured beer. A skillful blend of American hops makes this a beer to be reckoned with. Fruity, citrus nose and flavour. Silver Medal in the Strong Ale category at 2006 Peterborough Beer Festival, and an overall Silver Medal in the Local Beer Competition at the 2007 Reading Beer Festival.

Cask (gravity dispense), Ealing Beer Festival, May 2006. Clear gold colour. Very pungent herbaceous, juicy, floral hop aroma. US hops are obvious in the big grapefruit rush on the palate. Bags of flavour. Quite sharp and bitter, but backed up by juicy fruit and light biscuity malt. Excellent. Almost APA in character.

Handpull @ ’Sporks, Crosse Keys. Pale amber with a thin white head. Extremely sweet malty nose with a little citrus hop beneath. Offensively sweet and cloying but has a nice bitter finish. Way too sweet for my taste, I couldn’t even finish a half.

Cask at SIBA beer festival, Kent: Amber coloured beer. Very sweet but not overly cloying. Hides it’s strength extremely well. Lots of citrus with a nice amount of hops. Yeah, good beer.

Cask at The Bricklayer’s Arms, Putney, 29th Sept 2007. Very slightly hazy gold appearance. Aroma of caramel and butterscotch which carries over into the flavour - it’s sweet butterscotch and toffee. The characteristic slickness of diacetyl is evident in the palate (along with alcoholic warmth) and overall, I found it distastefully sweet and sickly. Given the other ratings, I probably got a bad barrel and will try it again.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2007, London. Clear medium yellow color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate hoppy, citrus, lemon, light malty, toasted. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration and a nice balance. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat.
