Balanced complexity appeals to European-style ale drinkers. Mahogany colored from a blend of premium caramel malts. Medium bodied and smooth with a touch of roasted malt for a dry finish.

Super deep and hazy amber coloured body with an almost brown glow and hints of ruby with a thinnish, single centimetre tall tan head with an ugly soapy look. Aroma of alcohol, soap, water and the faintest bit of caster sugar. Light-bodied; Earthy flavour with some grapes, pine, earth, caramel and nuts and not much else - fairly bland and one-sided. Aftertaste shows only the same flavours again, and perhaps for only a few seconds at best - mild malt, earth, caramel and touches of vanilla - not too enjoyable. Overall, a relatively weak and mild beer with only subtle malt and caramel flavours showing through this at all. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-November-2014 for US$2,49 sampled at home in Washington on 10-February-2015.

Twisted Manzanita Rustic Horizon Red (US) - Amber Ale - 6.8% 60 cl bottle, 3.90€. Red color with some particles in suspension, average offwhite head. Roasted malts profile with decent noble hops aroma, caramellish, with fruity overtones. Medium bodied, average carbnation. Very dry finish. Simple red ale quite good anyway.

8 Mar 2014, tap at Manzanita Brewing. Light red, clear, no bubbles. Nose is lightly toasted bread. Thin body and moderately fizzy. Sugary bread, faint caramel, some brown sugar. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A decent red, not super interesting but smooth and tasty overall. Pours a nice amber color with a light white head. Smells like beer with maybe a hint of vanilla. Taste is a bit fruity upfront with a hint of hops in the finish. Very smooth but forgettable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer has a very rich amber color. A really mild aroma and underwhelming taste when it hits your tongue. It does however develop a very pleasing aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours reddish brown with a thick beige head and a red malt aroma. There is a bitter dark malt flavor that just doesn’t taste very good. Dry finish.

Bomber from Sprouts. Lord know how long it has been there. Pours the appropriate hue for a red ale, started out with a healthy dose of foam and hung onto to it for a while too. After 15 minutes in the glass it still has a half a finger of decent off white foam, laces nicely. Aroma is faint of crystal malts and yeast. Not sure why but the yeast scent is prevalent on this beer. Taste is decent, clean, a bit on the malty side. Very weak of hop flavor until some fruity sweetness kicks in at the end of the game. Solid. Unspectacular... just what I was expecting.

Poured a thin head on a clear, deep amber colored body. The aroma has a strong caramel smell with a lemon note in the background. The taste starts with caramel sweet and abruptly moves to a sharp lemon bitter flavor. It’s on the sweet side overall. The texture is crisp with soft edges and moderate carbonation. It’s not that great or interesting.

Pours a copper and red color with a malt aroma. A light sweet caramel flavor with notes of molasses. A slight bitter aftertaste with a hoppy aftertaste that disappears quickly. More of a good red beer style than amber ale.

Reddish amber, moderate sized head, some lace/retention. Aroma is grass, caramel, nut, toast. Medium to light bodied, yay another amber ale how exciting.
