[2/15/15] Draught at Toronado in San Francisco. As Twisted Manzanita Serenity. Dark brown. Sourish aroma with malt, dark fruits, oak and hops. Sweet-sourish flavor, a bit boozy, with malt, dark fruits, wood, tannins and bitter hops. Medium to full-bodied.

Bottle. Aroma is of browned butter, brown sugar, and molasses. Taste is sweet with a lingering bitter chocolate finish. This beer is good but has the taste of a beer aged too long and paste it?s prime. It?s only 6 months old.

a couple years on the bottle. Whiskey presence is very light compared to some of the boozy monsters out there. Strong, but no way did you think this was 12%. Light oak and whiskey aroma, more straight forward malt assault with a good dose of bittering hops for a 2-y-o beer. Classic american barleywine for the most part, with the barreling coming through pretty lightly in the flavor too. Nice."

12 oz. bottle shared by Keir at the hotel after RBSG’s grand tasting. Thanks, Keir. Pours a clear reddish amber with a small off-white head. Notes of brown sugar, toasted malts, and booze-soaked dried berry fruits. Some cardboard hints at oxidation. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, malty, dry mouthfeel. Not bad, but seems like it’s on its way out.

Tasted at RBSG grand tasting post-tasting. 12oz bottle with black wax. Canadian whiskey. Mostly clear red color. Thin off-white head. Good lace. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Light dry finish. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of creamy lighter carbonation. Light slick. Dark fruit, caramel, some oxidization. Some vegetal. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter, light spice. OK stuff. Not crazy. A lot of vegetal

8 Mar 2014, tap at Manzanita Brewing. Ruby, clear, no bubbles. Nose is huge raisin and alcohol and fruitcake! Med body and moderately fizzy. Wow! Fruitcake. Heavy nuts, moderate fruit. Wow! Alcohol isn't really prominent. Really good! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
