2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
I think this years most recent batch must be bad because i agree with the last two rates that this is not right. There is nothing off in the aroma but it does not seem right for the style. The hops are soapy and piny, the malt is grainy and the yeast pokes through too. The appearance is alright with an amber hue and a small head. The taste is like the aroma with an offensive bitter finish. The palate is average for the style. Overall I feel like there is a lot wrong with this. The hops seem like the wrong choice.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a smallish white head. Nose is a little toasty with a bit of bread in there. Taste is quite malty with the toasting elements coming through. Not a huge fan of this.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Orange amber pour with a smaller head. Dusty earthy nose. There’s actually a little hop profile on the taste - not bad. Palate is so-so.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
August 3rd, 2011 - Twisted Pine’s Amber is pretty common in Colorado’s beer stores. It’s hard to stand out as an amber, but the drinker knows that the brewer knows this. I always hope that some ingenious head brewer has found a way to craft an amber that pushes the boundaries of the style in a way that makes it my go-to for the style. While Twisted Pine’s American Amber Ale may not be a Kuhn-esque revolution for ambers, it’s a solid offering. In color it is, not surprisingly, a light amber, with touches of orange and pink touching the edges of the glass. The aroma is deep and nutty, and even features some roasted walnut, with a nice malt extract base, and a touch of pine. The rich caramel flavor of the malt extract extends to the flavor too, giving this a depth that suggests a richness of ingredients at an affordable price. It features a nice depth, but nothing too dark for a meal, or even for casual summer drinking. No bells and whistles, this is a good, flavorful brew that doesn’t skimp on the taste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled on 10/6/2012. This amber ale pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is caramel, fruity, nutty and slightly sweet. A medium to light bodied amber. The malts are fruity, caramel/toffee and slightly sweet. The hops are citrusy and earthy. Decent carbonation. It’s either slightly over balanced towards the hops, or it needs some additional malts. Finish is a little citrusy for an amber. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean, crisp, and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft. Pours a medium, off white, well retained head, with slight lacing, over a clear amber (SRM 8) body......nose is cereal, light toffee/caramel....taste is sweet malts with cereal tones, leading to a harsh, back of tongue, lingering bitterness...........mouth feel light of medium, carbonation low. The malt back bone comes through nicely on the nose, but the harsh bitter finish of the hops takes away from the nice flavors of the malts. BJCP 7/3/10/4/5
