1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Appearance: pale, slightly cloudy, and rather unattractive – piss yellow. No head on pour, no lace, nothing.
Nose: jalapenos and red chilies – roasted with sweetness of broiled char. Each sniff makes the eyes water. Soggy chili soaked saltines.
Palate: thin and watery. Soggy watery white bread and saltines up front. Pretty much nothing in the middle. Hot spicy rough jalapeno pepper finish. Vinegar quality of banana peppers. Raw. Slow burn develops uncomfortably in chest.
Final Thoughts: much like blueberries, peppers and jalapenos in beer just doesn’t work. At all. I’ve tasted many to date and I’ll continue to taste more. If I find one that is actually good (Stone Chipotle Smoked Porter comes to mind) than I’ll be sure to say so (I did) and I will continue to taste….and taste I will.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
sample from a 12oz bottle at the CASK Group Brew in Jacksonville, Feb 25, 2012. Golden beer with a white head and aroma of Jalapeno and Habanero. Interesting take on a chili beer. Some heat but not too hot and plenty of chili flavor. Smooth pale ale background. A good effort.

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAR 2, 2012 Pours light golden with a small white head. Smells faintly of peppers and spice. Tastes Taste is instantly of spicy peppers with some generic pale ale tastes, without all the hops, and remains spicy all the way. Light-bodied with a wet texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Twisted Pine Billy’s Chilies finishes with some strong pepper spicy heat. Overall this is a pretty good chili beer, but not the best I’ve had.

12oz bottle from PaulUnwin. golden color, thin white head that is gone fast. strong aroma of peppers! think i picked up on the serrano + anaheim, definitely get the variety in there. thin liquid as expected, clean taste... until the finish! where peppers flavors come out to play and add a little heat on the finish, not overpowering though. different but ok!

Not quite what I expected. The pepper flavors arrive late so you begin with an odd , if not bland, taste to begin. An ok beer but one that could have been better

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
This one was strange... Pours a plain yellow body with some bubbles. The nose is heavy peppers, jalapeno being more abundant than the rest. The taste is a bit dry and hoppy - then comes through a wave of spices and peppers. Spicy (heat) is another way to describe this one. I’d recommend it paired with some heavy, spicy foods.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle pour courtesy of Chipalsa. Nose is weird with hints of preserved chillies and pale malts and some stale hops. Sorta like chili-cheese dip with a beer tinge. Interesting but not too desirable in a brew (for me at least). Pour was a clear yellow with almost no head and lacing that resembled a string of fishing line around the glass. Taste is slightly spicy chili with some hay/straw and a bit of old bittering hops. The heat from this brew was actually a bit pleasing compared to the other qualities, leaving a slow burn on the way down that wasn’t intense but was still noticeable. Meh. Not one I would get again though.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at GABF. Deep golden pour with a fluffy head. The nose is hugely chilies. Moderate bready malts, slight fruity note. On tasting, intense burn at first, lots of green flavor and quite earthy. The Burn fades fast overall but the chili flavor is really robust. Pretty nice beer, actually.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tap @ brewery. Clear darkish honey in color, no lasting head or lace. Smells like the pickling juice in a jalapeno jar, plus a little nacho cheese (anaheim/fresno peppers?). Flavor was nice and well rounded for what it is. There is a big tone of lots of different peppers, kinda roasty with a mild heat spice that persists after the finish. Still has a nice background noise of nacho cheese. Not very fun drinking something spicy, but it’s a nice diversion.
