3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 drowland (4981) - Jacksonville, Florida, USA - MAR 5, 2011
2/24/11. 12oz bottle courtesy Cavie! Orange/golden pour with a slight haze under a creamy white head that’s gone fast. Sweet blend of all kinds of peppers on the aroma that reminds of salsa - smells really good, actually! Plain malt flavor that lingers sweet, salty, and peppery, again like salsa, with a lingering hint of spicy burn. A big hint of a vinegar-like flavor that goes a tiny bit too far. I dig it!
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sammy (7031) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 13, 2011
The 5 chile peppers, laggerish. Lighter mouthfeel, lighter colour, and a little too carbonated. Still some pepper aroma and taste.
1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 Cavie (3382) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - FEB 10, 2011
Bottle with big, yes BIG thanks to Fratto. That’s Brian Fratto who lives on Tucker Blvd. Send him a note of joyousness. Pours a golden color with a giant head response. There is a crapload of sediment floating in this beer. Like, lots and lots of stuff. Wow. Smells like jalapenos and red tomato salsa all the way. My face burns just from the smell of this. Flavor is very spicy which is no surprise. It freaken burns my lips as I drink it. Where’s my chap stick? Wow, lots of pepper and salsa. Spicy chilis. Jeez!
0.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20 Fratto (2328) - Arlington, Texas, USA - FEB 10, 2011
Bottle from Whip-In. Light yellow pour with a huge white head. Tons of sediment and floaters. Hazy to a flaw. Aroma is overbearing peppers and old salsa. Taste is cheap salsa from yesterday’s garbage in the back in a Tex-Mex restaurant that was shut down for health code violations. Heart burn finish.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 troyc (2014) - Oklahoma, USA - JAN 4, 2011
[Bottle] Pours a bright amber color with virtually no head. Spicy pepper aroma with some vegetable and grass mixed in. The taste is of hot peppers (not surprisingly) and some cornbread and biscuits. The heat starts with the first sip and steadily builds into a full mouth burn. Average mouthfeel and palate. I highly recommend drinking this with food. I didn’t, but would probably enjoyed it more if I had.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 taphandle (1135) - Texas, USA - DEC 4, 2010
Dark yellow, clear, not a lot of head. Aroma is spicy, but of bell peppers of all things. Some malt to the taste, then some pepper - mostly green chilies and bell pepper, then the heat comes through in the finish. It’s ok, but I’d like to see one of these done as a slightly darker beer with more hops and a bit less chilies.

Bottle from Supermarket Liquors. Pours darkish gold with a rapidly disappearing white head. Aroma is strongly chilie. Med body.foamy carbonation. Flavor is maybe a little malt, but mostly some tasty chilie. Pretty darn good.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tennessejed420 (922) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 1, 2010
bottle. Pours murky orange with small off white bubbly head. Aroma is all pepper, if I was a pepper connoisseur maybe I could distinguish between different pepper tones, but all I can detect now is a bunch of pepper. Bell pepper, hot peppers, and a spiciness. Taste delivers all pepper flavor, which is at first balanced by malts, but on the finish surrenders to a spiciness which is definitely dominating. This is my first chili beer, and it is hard for me to evaluate it. On one hand, I feel like what I traditionally think of as beer is overpowered by the chili. I like spicy food and think that chili could be good in beer but it seems to be too much. On the other hand, well, I kind of like it. Still, definitely couldn’t drink more than one of these. Glad I tried it though.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Strykzone (3812) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - SEP 23, 2010
This beer looks pretty much like a pale lager but the aroma is green peppers and jalapeno. Flavor is big hot pepper. Every once in a while some lager flavors are noted but this is all about pepper. I finished the glass and I am glad it is gone.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 oreogobbler (228) - Austin, Texas, USA - AUG 22, 2010
Very light bell pepper and jalapeno aromas. Pours clear and yellow, and clear, no sign of head. The flavor is very clean and smooth, a light heat in the back of the palate. Flavors of peppers and spice. The palate is clean and smooth. Would be best paired with food, not drank alone. But overall one of the better chili beers I’ve had.
