12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Sac, chocolate aroma and front end, honey on the end. Pretty good for a brown. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Dark amber pour with a small head. Chocolate malts, somewhat sweet, and a little hop kick. Not too bad.

Bottle. Pours brownish amber with a beige head. Sweet and toasted malts, light earthy hops, a hint of chocolate, and a relatively clean finish. Fresh and drinkable. Good stuff.

Aroma is malts and a strong hint of sweetness. The flavor is malts, caramel, a slightly syrupy body, mild roasted notes and smooth/slightly tart finish.

Pours a clean and sharp burnt copper with a thin tan head. Nose is nondescript, light honey-ish quality and some toasted grain. A light sweetness shows in the flavor with some muddled malt flavors and slight nutty character. Medium light body with a hazelnut skin skin bitterness.

Bottle. Pours a slightly reddish brown color with a small head. Nose is rather nutty and slightly toasty. Taste is much the same, though the toasting comes through a lot more. Not bad.

Brewed with honey but bitter nonetheless. Very dark pour with a light brown head. Taste is predominantly malty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

June 20th, 2011 - My impression of Twisted Pine changed dramatically once I summoned the courage to go knock on their door and see how their brewery "feels". Until then, their beers tasted lackluster. A good representative beer, I thought, was their Honey Nut Brown Ale. I concede that this style tends to be boring wherever you go (sort of like accountants), but an exceptional honey nut brown ale could also indicate a real coup in the brewing industry. The color of Twisted Pine’s version is a brown and red color with a good and heavy tan lacing. I catch a hint of cinnamon buns in the nose, and I make a periphery check to make sure a friend or family member isn’t hauling a box of the treats around me. Check: negative. Fresh cream or rich milk sweetness build on the cinnamon bun smell, and a little nutmeg gives this a welcome seasonal touch. There’s nothing like a little nutmeg in food or beverages once snow hits the ground. While I enjoy the aroma and all the homey delights it projects, I’d be worried if I started sucking down on a liquefied cinnamon bun, so I’m relieved to find that the taste is milder, chalkier, a mild malty aftertaste, and a good but not overwhelming dose of milk chocolate. The sweetness is dialed down, favoring chalky and dry malty flavors. It’s drinkable and even enjoyable, but easy to miss in the crowd of Colorado’s beer scene. I also don’t know where honey comes into the picture. Not unlike the case of the disappearing bees plaguing the apiary industry, there is a mysterious case of the omitted honey flavor.

Sampled on 10/8/2012. This brown ale pours a medium brown color from a 12ooz bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel and fruity with some honey. A medium to light bodied brown ale. The malts are caramel, bready and sweet. The hops are earthy. Decent carbonation. Some honey and a touch of chocolate. There is some estery sweetness at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is mostly sweet, with some honey.

Dark clear brow with a ring or beige head. Aroma is lightly sweet, malty, and, oddly enough, skunk. Not sure how or why since this is on draught. Medium mouth that wants to be creamy but just isn't. Flavor is light on the earthy tones, sweet malts, maybe very light honey but not really. It's drinkable and decent but not worth round two.
