Hoppy Knight is brewed to celebrate Twisted Pine’s 15th Anniversary and is named after our founder and craft beer industry legend Gordon Knight. This India-style Black Ale tastes like a big classic IPA but pours dark as night. A very subtle sweetness and roastiness is provided by the carafa malt, but this beer is really all about the hops(85 IBUs). Hoppy Knight is heavily dry-hopped to provide a wonderful floral aroma. Citrusy grapefruit flavors hit you up front and linger through to the finish.

Opaque black brew with chestnut brown edges and a dark tan head. Resin in the nose, very oily with some burnt sugar and citrus rind. Super bitter and acrid, lots of astringency. Medium body. Not a fan of this style at all.

Bottle. Pours an almost-black color with very little head. Floral hoppy notes hit you right off the bat. Smack in the face. Taste has some great floral and citrus notes. Balanced well without being too hoppy.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2013 $4.99, 22oz bottle. Inky black pour with a big, tan head and lots of lacing. Roasty and malty, but not as hoppy as expected. Enjoyable but not a repeat for me.

22oz $7 Dark brown, almost black, looks about standard. Smells like an IPA, not bad, kind of piney and citrus. The taste is not as hoppy as the smell, I was disappointed a little. It tasted like a brown ale and I just really wished the hops from the smell were present in the flavor. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 08-29-2010 21:45:45

Bottle. Pours dark brown/black with tan fizzy head. Aroma has some obvious chocolate mixed in with some piney hop. Flavor is a bit more subtle on chocolate, with some piney and citrusy hop blended in with a sharp hop weedy bitterness. Medium mouthfeel with high carbonation. Overall, not bad.
