Our Imperial Porter is a deep, robust ale brewed with only the finest ingredients. This winter seasonal has a full-bodied chocolate malty flavor with steady sweetness and a slight warming sensation. It pours black with a creamy brown head. Cellarable for 4+ years.

On tap @ Twisted Pine. Pours a black appearance with a dark brown head. Anise, dark chocolate, símore, vanilla aroma. Cocoa, roasty malty, black licorice, a bit sweet flavor. One of the best beers Iíve had from these guys.

Bomber. 2012 vintage cellared for approximately 1.5 years. Sweet dark fruit aroma with dark chocolate notes. Pours black with a thin mocha head and some lacing. Starts with rich dark fruit flavors followed by a hint of booze in the chocolate notes in the smooth, creamy finish. Good stuff.

22oz bomber from Xroads. Poured a medium density black body with some lighter super dark brown edges and a smaller sized foamy mocha colored head. Aroma/flavor is sweet, sugary dark chocolate, dark fruits, figs, raisins, dough, dark berries, chocolate syrup. Medium body with softer carbonation and a lingering sweet aftertaste.

Pours black with tan head and decent lacing. Aromas are coffee and a touch of chocolate. Flavors are roasted malt, coffee, not a lot of sweetness. Shine booze. Decent.

Sampler at Twisted Pine. Appearance: brown head, black color, good lacing. Aroma: floral, nut, cranberry or other berry fruit. Palate: full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Taste: nice sweetness, slight bitter finish. Overall, very good with a unique aroma. Stand out beer in my opinion.

Aroma of roasted malts, molasses, and burnt brown sugar. Pours an opaque black wih a brown ring and no lacing. The taste is roasted malts, molasses, with hints of dark fruit, anda some alcoloh in the finish. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, this is a sipper - a bit more molasses flavor than I care for.

Pours a thick opaque black from the bottle with dissipating tan head and very light lacing. Aroma of chocolate, slight soy and roast, and a small boozy back end. Taste follows, less chocolate, a hint of earthiness, and no real booziness. Thin on the mouth, which is supposedly what I am to expect with the difference between an imperial porter and imperial stout. Very nice.

December 30th, 2011 - Arriving a little later and further down the line in my Twised Pine tasting sampler is the Northstar Imperial Porter. In the background of the photo of the beer, you can see a discarded, empty basket that held some kind of breaded or fried snack. Iím glad we filled our bellies with something greasy first, because the Northstar is a heavyweight pugilist when it comes to flavor. The aroma is thick with sweet, syrupy malt and fig, belying a quiet, creeping flavor. Itís silent at first, then pounces with pounds of sweet dark fruits: figs and raisins blanketed in brown sugar. Itís neither too dark nor too bitter, and features a nice boozy edge with a delightful aftertaste worthy of a dessert. A few sips confirm a developing opinion - this is definitely a highlight of the taster tray, and shows off how well Twisted Pine can brew the dark stuff.
