12 oz bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a fine off-white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet sugary caramel malts, cola, dark fruits and bourbon.

The flavor is pretty subdued - sweet caramel malts and cola with a touch of harsh bitter alcohol in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, not that great. It’s a bit of a mish mash with some harsh alcohol that I don’t care for.

Autumn color. Full long lasting foam. Aroma has different dimensions. Notes of bourbon with vanilla and oak as well as a lot of tropical fruit notes from the hops. Oak whiskey flavor of vanilla and whiskey. Very light texture. Hardly any malt characteristics. Tropical fruit hoppiness, which blends decently with the barrel aging. Very watery texture. Not very flavorful or complex. I don’t see how this could achieve the accolades it did.

Pours a dark crimson color with a fairly small, beige, pillowy head; it is mostly diminishing and leaves minimla lace. Nose is simple with lots of vanilla and oak notes followed by buttery cookies, and faint toffee. Flavor is similar with vanilla and oak dominating with lighter notes of bourbon, toasted grain, and faint toffee. Palate is light to medium, lively, and velvety. Finishes average length with vanilla and lingering bourbon and oak. The hop bitterness is basically negated by the barrel notes. The barrel notes dominate every apsect of this one and really hide the base beer. Certainly a drinkable beer, assuming you like oak-aged beers, but nothing I would pursue.

Bottle: Hazy and dark amber with a thin head. Soft and smooth texture but it was light on the tongue; on the verge of being watery. Mild carbonation to boot. Flavors and aromas were quite pleasant (caramel, wood, vanilla, butter cookies, sugared fruit). Sweet whiskey was a nice touch. Bitterness was very mild; I wanted a bit more. Maybe a pinch more alcohol, too. After buying the four-pack for 12-something dollars, I was surprised to find out that the beer was only 5.5 percent.

Huge vanilla caramel butterscotch nose. Deep reddish orange with small head. Oaky sweetness is very pronounced, slight bitterness for balance--but so rich! Medium carbonation, smooth long bourbony finish, seems higher alcohol than 5.5% ?. A very interesting and tasty oaked beer, the bourbon notes are great, definitely worth trying.
