(12oz bottle - english pint) pours a deep cherry red with a red-hued tan head. aroma of roasted nuts with a bit of floral to it. pleasant palate with a bit of bitterness in the finish. a bit to much after-bite for me, but a good stout. has a nice thickness to it.

December 30th, 2011 - By the time I had worked my way around Twisted Pine’s sampler circuit and reached the Pearl Street Porter, my tongue was started to get a little exhausted, both because of the march of the beers, but also all the wagging it did in praise of Twisted Pine’s taproom. The Pearl Street Porter features a mild, almost standard dark malt smell, highlighted by a slight touch of peat. The palate is satisfyingly light, and delivers a soft aftertaste, with a summary balance of licorice, malt, light molasses and a noticeable absence of bitterness. In spite of what might traditionally be called dark flavors, this is an uplifting, refreshing beer, and a great one to show off to friends to dispel the myth that all dark beers are heavy, oily behemoths ready to tackle their next victim’s palate.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a finger of tan head. Settles quickly with a little lacing. Aroma is mild roasted malt, dark malt, caramel, slight alcohol.
Flavor is mild roasted malt, with slight coffee and cocoa hints, fading into nutty malt, finishes slightly bitter and roasted. Mild carbonation, medium-light body, and a slightly watery texture. Not a bad beer, but it could use more flavor.

Surprised to see this as a Baltic Porter, pour on tap at the brewery was black with red edges, thin off white head. Aroma brought notes of slight cocoa, some anise, toffee, roasted malts, hints of wet coffee grounds in there as well. Taste is some wet coffee, roasted malt, some earth mixing with caramel, some slight grass finishing with some chocolate notes. Not bad!

Tap @ brewery. Very dark brown with burnt orange highlights. Light beige lasting head. Aroma of roasty dark chocolate, black licorice, and a touch of coffee. Taste is light and smooth, but full of delightfully sweet dark malts, chocolate, light smokiness, and some light coffee tones. A little light on the body but with a full flavor. Dry finish. Really good.
