This extra hoppy Pilsner has a jalapeno aroma, a mild jalapeno flavor, and leaves you with pleasant warmth in the back of your throat. At 6.5% alcohol by volume Fuego is strong yet still crisp and refreshing. Most chili beers are more focused on the heat, but this one is 100% beer. The secret to this beer is the amount and duration of the jalapeno soak, as it has taken nearly two years to get it just right. About the name: Fuego is translated as "Fire" - The jalapeno is a fruit, a medium sized chili pepper with a warm, burning sensation when eaten. A mature jalapeno is 2-3.5 inches (5-9 cm) long and is commonly picked and sold when still green, but occasionally when ripe and red. The jalapeno is variously named in Mexico as huachinango and chile gordo The seeds have the heat of a jalapeno, but the flesh has a mild flavor close to a green bell pepper. We get our jalapenos from San Antonio’s finest spice company - Fiesta Spices - owned by the Bolner family.

Aroma is subtle - spicy and slightly sweet. Pours a clear amber with a half inch tan head and no lacing. The dominate taste is the jalapeño slow burn at the end, which I liked. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, not a beer that I want to drink day-in-day-out but I enjoy from time to time. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Pours a deep gold with a pillowy, cream-colored head that leaves lace. Nose is jalapenos, spice (allspice?), and malt. Sweet and peppery on the front of the tongue, with mild heat all the way through the mouth; the tingle of the heat is an odd counterpoint to very sweet malt, a touch of clove-like anaesthetic, and some hops bitterness. It does eventually all harmonize on the finish with the heat lingering for a surprisingly long time. Interesting, but not something I’d drink a lot.

Had on draft in Austin @ the Whip-In .. . pours gold .. medium foam, light lacing .. . how is jimmy fallon still employed? .. . peach skin and jalepeno skin .. . mild heat in the throat .. . quite well made and good in half pint doses .. . . Hunters will tell you that a moose is a wily and ferocious forest creature. Nonsense. A moose is a cow drawn by a three-year-old..

Nose is pepper, bready, lemon, earthy..Taste is light heat, spice, earth, grains, lemon peel, malty..One of the better pepper beers i have had..Not much heat at all.

On tap at Flix. Clear yellow pour with a small white head. Aroma is next to nothing and just a little spicy. Taste is just so damn much pepper. I mean, I just can’t drink anymore. Thankfully, I’m conning Danny into drinking some of this.

2/24/12. On tap during RBWG. Clearish golden pour. Light aroma that is grainy and corny with a touch of pepper. Light corny, slightly spicy (hop) flavor with a bigger hit of jalapeno than the aroma that builds with time. Interesting.

Growler thanks to mora2000. Not a bad beer. Pours with a clear golden-orange hued body with a surprisingly retentive white head. Aromas are bready, caramel, light buttery notes, some spice, a bit vegital. Flavors are peppery (chili and spice), bready, vegital, caramel, biscuity. Clean, very light fruity esters. Medium bubbles and a touch of heat on the finish. Some of my friends couldn’t notice the spice which was odd.
