Draft in Seattle. Pale orange. Mild citrus hops, tart dry body with door bitter malt backbone. OK

Pine, orange, crystal malts, lots of caramel, iced tea, a little vegetal. Pours orange, thin off white head. Flavors of caramel, iced tea, oranges, piney hops. A little bitterness shows through the finish. Almost dirt like, earthy. Run of the mill PNW IPA.

8 ounce sample on tap at Beveridge Place Pub. Faint, grassy aroma. Some light malt sweetness. Where are the hops? Not much happening here. Mildly hazy copper body with a medium off-white head. Good lacing. Starts with some orange, and citrus hop flavors before this becomes a little musty and sweet in the middle. More piney and citrus orange/grapefruit hop flavors come in at the end. Very mild bitterness. So-so.

On tap @ Two Beers taproom in Sodo. Apparently this is Two Beers original IPA, but Evolutionary won out. Kinda easy to see why... this is mediocre at best. Astringent aroma leads into heavily pine hop taste. Body is thin and difficult to pick out any real malt against the heavy hops. Those hops are nice, but really unbalanced overall.

Uninteresting IPA. The bartender at the brewery nailed to description pretty well. The flavor that stuck out the most to me was grape. Very dry finish. No biggie. The other IPA offerings from Two Beers are exceptional, even the ISA is exemplary.

Fairly predictable appearance. Light amber, somewhat cloudy, decent off-white head. Citrus heavy aroma, grapefruit, some pine, and a bit of herbal dankness. Classic northwest flavors and medium crystal malt intensity. Finish leaves a bit lingering which turns out to be not so good, an indistinct and relatively indifferent aftertaste. Flavors are muddled. For me this would rate in the lower 25% of IPAs out there.

The good news is that these days, it takes better than a fair beer to make any semblance of a positive impression in the saturated PacNW IPA market. The bad news is that this beer is not better than a fair beer. Citrus blast, fairly malt-heavy, astringent. Drinkable, not special.

On tap. Slighty cloudy, orange yellow in color. Nice hop and citrus nose. Very citrus filled attack, bitter clean. Very drinkable.

Draft @ the Brewery. Pours a cloudy orange color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy aroma. Fruity malty hoppy citrus flavor. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter citrus finish.

rosenbergh (6105) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 6, 2010
Draught at Lava Lounge, Seattle, WA, USA.
Slightly hazy golden colour with no head. Stale butter aroma with bitter piney hops. Harsh piney bitter hops in flavour. Flavour is rather mildly bitter but aftertaste lasts very long.
