Malts: 2 row, raw barley, black malt, chocolate, crystal, molasses, oats, roasted barley, rye, wheat.
Hops: Magnum, Nugget.
Barrels: Matured 6 months in brandy barrels.
Aged: with whole vanilla beans.

Pours an oily black with a finger of caramel colored head. Aroma is rich with dark fruit amidst chocolate and a subtle twist of brandy oak to round it out. Taste is more of the same, with a strong presence at the beginning from the cherries, which mellows out into chocolate, vanilla, oak, and brandy. Palate is surprising light for such a monster of a beer, but I enjoyed the smoothness to balance such an intense beer. Overall this beer was incredibly unique and enjoyable and I look forward to enjoying another bottle a year from now.

Stunning. Perfectly barreled. Slight brandy notes. Strong slightly sweet non roasty stout base. Slight vanilla infusion. Just superbly well done.

Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a cloudy brown with beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is diaceytal, and roast. Medium mouthfeel with nutty buddy flavor, light roast, and butter. Decent.

Bottle. Pours a near-black color with a moderate light brown head on there. Nose is pretty complex, with some great roasting to it, as well as some grains and just a hint of chocolate. Taste is a tad bit bitter, and has a fair amount of roasting and just a hint of dark licorice. Extremely smooth and creamy.

Bottle from Whole Foods Westlake, Seattle
Black color with froty brownish head. The aroma is very interesting, vanilla cream, similar to a cream brule or tiramisu. The body is weaker than expected, weak indeed; the mouthfeel is soft; roasted malt flavor, very moderate sweetness, a bit of quality coffee, hints of spirit (brandy). Latte-style final.
Nice but simple.

22 oz. bottle, courtesy of fiulijn (thanks a lot, Alex), pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out dark fruits, brandy barrels, and some light roast. Flavour is fairly soft, with notes of dark fruits, very light brandy, soft cocoa and a touch of vanilla. Surprisingly soft and light on the palate, with not a whole lot of body. The alcohol is definitely warming, but it isnít that boozy. Lacking some body, but this is a nice enough sipper. Solid stuff.

Bottle... Poured black with a thin, deep tan head. Really nice vanilla brandy tone here. Some heat and boozy spirit tones, but overall smooth with a wonderful barrel character. Hints of dark cocoa, mocha coffee, mild roast, charred fruits and mild grains. Really, really good. Definitely impressed by Two Beers with this one.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Handy pull tab to get the wax removed. Pours very dark brown/black with a dark tan head. Aroma is full of rich dark malt, fruits, coffee and chocolate. Full bodied and more. Heat is barely perceptible. Probably because all the other flavors are so strongly present/pleasant. I doubt the Russian court got anything this fruity flavored. Itís something of a fruit/sugar bomb, but thatís not necessarily bad, unless you were looking for a same ol, same ol. IS. With the passage of time I think Iím getting some vinosity from the brandy barrels, and it seems to come with a little heat build up. This is a very different and relatively complex ale. Glad Iím into it before summer heat gets a good start. Extremely tasty ale.

pours like black crude with a very small brown head that dissipates quickly, and little to no lacing. smell is of roasted malt, cocoa, dark roast coffee, and slight vanilla. taste is smooth, thick, chocolate, a little smoke, coffee, vanilla, cherries, and some hops. ends smooth and just a little bitter.

Hahaha ok look at all these amateurs rating this shit 4 and up. Hey welcome to rate beer, now go back to where ever you came from rare beer over rater audi driving amazon.com dipshit. Nose of underattenuated sweet sugars soft maraschino cherry roast smoke and belgian yeast. Holy shit this is sweet. Pours black tan head nice legs. Not a bad looking beer. Flavors of underattenuated sweet sugars soft maraschino cherry roasted malt some acrid notes. Not sure where the vanilla or cocoa are under the diabetes bomb here. Maybe some brandy boozey notes. Thick hot somewhat tough to drink.

Nice, smooth brew. Pours black as night with thick tan head. On the nose: dark roasted malt, cherries, cacao, mild hops. Same on the tongue, plus coffee, plus plums. Hangs out for awhile--a little sticky. A bit of boozy burn going down. Cool bottling with a little metal beer dog tag. Hang it up out of respect for yer fallen soldier bottle and salute. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
