We took our time to get the finely-tuned balance of Persnickety Pale just right. The clean orange-peel character – brought on by Yakima Valley Chinook, Cascade and Centennial hops – balances perfectly with a soft caramel malt profile, built entirely from locally malted Washington grain.

22 oz. bottle from Chuck’s 85th Market. This has a nice fluffy head sitting on-top of a hazy copper body. This looks pretty good. This has a rather weak aroma. Soft hop aroma; actually, the hops are almost indeterminable. Light toffee and grass aroma. I would give some more information, if I could actually smell the thing. Very sweet, with very little hops. Slightly bitter at the end, but that is a very small "slightly". Subtle burnt malt flavor. The bitterness is only now starting to linger, but not in a complimentary type way. There’s nothing pale about this one; other than a light bitterness. The sweet flavor is decent, and as others have said, it reminds me a little of tea, but I’ve had beers that are egregiously guilty of the aforementioned foul. The person brewing this wasn’t persnickety about the end result, it seems. Not to be insulting, but come on, you can do better than this.

Growler. Big toffee nose contrasted by a dry leafy side. Caramel side of amber, frosty haze, creamy off white head, sticky lacing. Little bit on the dark side of caramel, gently toasted biscuit, finishes very clean with only a touch of green grassy hops accenting the finish. Went great with a clam chowder that was less chowder and more milky potato soup with clams.

Draft at Naked City. Pours a slight hazed peach golden with very little head. Nose is very delicate...peach, light citrus, piney butter, touch of bready caramel. Biscuit breadiness, light piney citrus, butter present...not overly to fault, yet distracting...decomposing peach flesh with ice tea. All of this sounds discouraging, bu this isn’t super offensive.
