We took our time to get the finely-tuned balance of Persnickety Pale just right. The clean orange-peel character – brought on by Yakima Valley Chinook, Cascade and Centennial hops – balances perfectly with a soft caramel malt profile, built entirely from locally malted Washington grain.

22. Pours a murky dark amber with a loose and sudsy tan head and plenty of eggy lacing. Balls-out iced tea nose, super dense and leafy tea notes. Creamy medium body with lively carb, tons of iced tea, some toast, and bits of pine. Mild piney resin finish. Not bad, but way more on the crystal malt side of the universe than I generally go.

Bottle:   Darker amber, a little dirty, some chunks settling to the bottom of my glass, moderate frothy white head, spotty lacing.   Soft hoppy nose, malts a little musty, very faint overcooked vegetable.   Not a real hop oriented beer, its there but not very bright.   Remains musty, a little stale and wet hops perhaps, some cardboard.   Luckily any sort of overcooked vegetable is very minor, and only shows up in the back.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   I guess if you dont like too much hops, this would be a paler Pale Ale.   A little off in the nose and on the tongue though, comes across as a bit of a homebrew, well sorta.   Its okay...

650ml bottle listed at 5.7%ABV poured a golden-orange color with a modest white head and some fine lacing. Aroma is mostly citrus with some light toasted malts. Taste is light malty sweetness with a bold citrusy hop finish, mostly grapefruit. Medium body and nice carbonation with a pleasing mouthfeel. This is a full flavoured pale ale that is recommended for a pleasing tasting experience.

Crisp, bright copper tinted orange coloured body with a dense, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pale malt, a hint of light grassy and herbal hops, with a tiny bit of sugars. Medium-bodied; Grassy and very herbal note of hops up front that fades immediately to a good malt note and very little else. Aftertaste is watery with not much else going on aside from the faintest of malts and a tiny bit of grassy hops. Overall, a pretty mild and unobtrusive beer - not necessarily a good thing, but this one is right down the centre. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Pear Delicatessen in Seattle, Washington on 11-February-2013 for US$1.70 sampled at home in [the real] Washington on 16-February-2013.

Bottle: Pours a nice orange color with a nice fluffy white head. The nose is very citrusy with a big snap of orange and fragrant caramel and toasty malts. The flavor isn’t bitter, but is dominantly hoppy with a nice citrus and grapefruit note. Finishes very balanced and orangey with nice sweet lingering honey note. Very nice.

This pale ale from Two Beers pours a great crystal clear copper (think a gleaming copper mash tun)with a foamy eggshell white head which leaves behind fantastic lacing. Malty aroma of caramel with a subtle use of hops. A smooth full body reveals big malty graham flavors well balanced by a clean bitter finish of pine & citrusy lemon. A satisfying pale ale.
