3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap @ Happy Gnome. Pours a bit hazy, dark orange appearance with an off white head. Fairly tame caramel, slightly spicy, a touch woody aroma. Mild toffee, caramel, a bit chewy, nutmeg flavor. Nothing all that special but decent to drink.

Have not been overly impressed with two brothers but this is one of the better efforts. I think marzens tend to run together so i enjoyed the oak aging.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Body is solid on this one and refreshing at the same time. It’s slightly spicy, but low on the hops. Most of the flavor comes from the malts and the yeast.

3.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours nearly clear, copper-brown. with a solid, off-white head....
Scent is a tacky-sweet, caramel... a bit sickly.
Taste is heavy caramel with a bitter presence....
Alcohol is noticeable, .... a bit of spice and raisins.,
Not a typical Oktoberfest......active and bright.
Just barely too sweet, though...
otherwise, it’s a fabulous little beer.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 ounce bottle. Please let me find, one day, an Oktoberfest/Marzen that’s better than mediocre. Atom Smasher isn’t it, although at least the higher than average abv helps set it apart by one metric. Appearance - clear amber, no bubbles, no foam. Aroma - sweet like High Life. Taste - Sweet, metallic. Palate - medium bodied, heavy fizz. Overall - Another bland Oktoberfest. Also, I was curious what are these oak "foudres" they mention in the description, other than the French word for lightning. As you can probably guess from context, they’re giant wooden barrels. I’m still confused how French-oriented barrels, German-based Oktoberfest beer and Fermilab all fit together though.

Draft to pint. Looks good; a fairly transparent copper with thin white lacing. Smells solid; semi-sweet and malty. Tastes like it smells, only better. And that oak really adds to the complexity of the beer. Good on the palate too. Nice! Maybe the best Oktoberfest I’ve ever had (even if it isn’t from Germany).

Super sweet scent with a little spice. Amber in color with no head and carbonation. Taste is a little boozy and has a hint of cinnamon, it's alright.

This wasn’t billed to me as a Marzen, but I can see it now that you mention it. I did link this to German styles--I detected a little pork bratwurst spices, herbal and lightly floral. Malty, caramel notes predominate. Drinkable yet dull. Moderately syrupy. (on tap at Happy Gnome, St. Paul)

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a clear amber orange with frothy white head. Aroma is caramel, sweet bread and almond. Flavor is a mix of raisin, caramel, hawaiian bread and cereal. Body is clean and light and is crisp on the tongue. Balanced carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
A: Red orange dark amber with white foamy head
S: Like fall - toasty caramel malts - bread/yeast
T: Follows the nose well - has maintained traditional Oktoberfest taste nicely
M: Soft carbonation, good medium body
O: A great Oktoberfest with one of the best palates of it’s style
