This wasn’t billed to me as a Marzen, but I can see it now that you mention it. I did link this to German styles--I detected a little pork bratwurst spices, herbal and lightly floral. Malty, caramel notes predominate. Drinkable yet dull. Moderately syrupy. (on tap at Happy Gnome, St. Paul)

Pours a clear amber orange with frothy white head. Aroma is caramel, sweet bread and almond. Flavor is a mix of raisin, caramel, hawaiian bread and cereal. Body is clean and light and is crisp on the tongue. Balanced carbonation.

A: Red orange dark amber with white foamy head
S: Like fall - toasty caramel malts - bread/yeast
T: Follows the nose well - has maintained traditional Oktoberfest taste nicely
M: Soft carbonation, good medium body
O: A great Oktoberfest with one of the best palates of it’s style

12oz bottle, best by 11/22/12. Another Two Bros. beer aged in French oak foudres? They must be getting a bulk discount on those. Was surprised when I actually sat down to taste this beer that the ABV is labeled 7.7% - definitely not your average oktoberfest. Clear orange-red color, minimal white head, leaving some lace. Good, more crisp lighter carbonation, dry finish. Very interesting toasty aroma - much more substantial than other oktoberfests, which I usually find to be a little lacking, yet no decrease in drinkability, here. Some dates? Light spice, definitely complex malt aroma. Light bitter taste, some savory. This is really tasty, and drinks like it’s 6%. Along with Southern Tier Harvest, this is definitely another offering that I’ll be frequently adding to my fall mix-packs.

This draft brew poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated hazy light orange brown colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was mild malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The strange flavor gave me an initial response of its bad due to the sour off tasting sour malt oak backing. A horrible one that I would rather not drink again. Drain poured.

Bottle and served in non-nik pint glass: Basic amber hue with very little head and no lace. The aroma has a lactic acid and soured fruity vapour along with a lot of heavy crystal malts, slight oak and earthy esters. The taste is not as acidic as I feared but it is sweet to the point of becoming cloy. I guess there is some tannic oak upon the finish along with a dash of pepper. The mouth feel is sticky and slick but far too under-carbonated. Just not all that good in a genre that has a lot of meh beers, give me a Marzen from Capital or Ayinger.

Tap at Stags Head, NYC. The aroma is vegetable, caramel bozy. The appearance is hazy amber, white head. The flavor is toast, caramel, oak, booze. Medium in body. Decent, a little strange for this style.

The pour is a slightly cloudy amber color with a thin white head. A bit of oak and grass to it. Not really much aroma to it overall, maybe a little bit of malty sweetness. A very faint grass flavor with a little bread. A little bit of lemon zest and tartness. Really an odd beer. Light bodied with medium carbonation.

Picked this up at Crown Liquor #19 in Caramel, Indiana. Well, Amyliz4 picked this up. Served in a snifter.
Pours a medium copper color with a thin head that recedes quickly. Some spotty lacing. The nose brings forward plenty of bread and a light bit of caramel. Faint hops. The flavor is okay, having too much of a grain character with slight tannins and a mild tartness. Light body with bread crust and modest carbonation. Decent enough, but not something I would revisit.

On tap at Revolution. Pours a cloudy, brighter orange-amber colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is slightly sweet with a touch of caramel, some darker fruits, a hint of oak, and a very light toast. Flavor is similar. Sweeter up front with some darker fruits giving off a touch of syrup. A light caramel with a touch of oak and toast in the middle. Gets a bit chewy and bready in the sweetness towards the end as the oak and toast grows just a tad along with a light hopping. Dry and somewhat sweet with a very light, but balancing bitterness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent Oktoberfest. A bit sweet with a light caramel, bready toast, oak, and darker fruit although it is well balanced with a somewhat sweet finish and light bitterness. Not bad.
