On tap at Revolution. Orange-brown color. Thin, steady head. Malty and rich. Very well done, manages to "imperialize" the style with getting sloppy or going overboard. Smooth caramel and doughy malt tones. Minimal to no hop tones. A great beer.

Smells like s funky barley, almost like a sour. Appearence is murky brown, cloudy and hazy. Taste is like a sour marzen, lost of sweet barley. Nothing special in the flavor, no aftertaste. Nice take on a German beer but the German’s still do it best.

Amber pour. The nose has a little bit of light chewy fruitiness. Dried berries and a little bit of tobacco. Fairly rich and a little bit chewy as well. Fairly estery with some lingering toastiness. Lean and bready with some astringent bitterness.

Bottle. Poured a dark amber or light mahogany with an initially thick but quickly disappearing head. The aroma is of sweet malt. Indeed, the beer drinks with a distinct sweet tartness, appley, and almost puckery. Different for an O-fest. (#4063, 1/24/2011)

bottle thanks to exiled. poured copper with a white head. aroma was ham, spice, and grain. flavor was caramel, spice, and orange with a light body and high carbonation.

Pours a transparent deep copper amber with a clingy-lacing off-white head. Has a semisweet toasty caramel malty nose with some earthy noble hops and a hint of light citric tartness. Starts with pretty good fullness and chewy authentic caramel maltiness and pretty good bittering hoppy balance. A pretty true to style festbier but would be better without the hints of tartness.

Draught at Small Bar Fullerton. Hazy dark amber color. Lots of sweet malt in the aroma, some herbal hops, and a light woodiness. Sweet flavor with an oaky touch and a big bready maltiness. Lightly hopped. Full and smooth in the mouth. A bit too sweet overall. some more intense hopping and I can see this going somewhere.

On tap at the Barley House in Algonquin. "Thick" for a lager, with velvety style malt that comes through in waves, with just the beginning of toast as you would expect from a Marzen. Hops in the distant background as you would expect. Due to the thicker body, I would only drink 2 in a session.
