3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
$3.50 cold bottle at Freikoten. Deep amber color with a bit of a hazy, thin head. Note of apple juice when placed within "nose shot." Closer in, I smell the Vienna malt, and an edge of yeast (this is, after all, from their oak foudre). Nice deep malts, tending more toward sweet than hoppy. A note of spice and yeast; likely a few bugs coming in from those wooden aging barrels. Some toasted biscuit and, yes, some roast squash. Yes, an all-around autumn beer!

A nice Marxen aroma on inital pour and initial taste doesn’t disappoint with characteristic Oktoberfest flavor. However finish is a bit unbalanced as oak aging over powers the palate and get more of a creamy tanin finish than is enjoyable

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from the bottle of a six pack into a pint glass. This beer tastes every bit as strong as it is, nothing is hidden. Some bitter, a lot of sweet, and big alcohol content. I’m always looking for beer which is strong and doesn’t taste like dog sh*t, It’s too bad I’ll have to wait till next year for this one to come around again.

Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour, quickly diminishing light off-white head. Pleasant light spicy aroma, hints of nutmeg, a trace of date fruitiness. Flavor is pleasantly sweet with some light molasses, a hint of date fruitiness, just a hint of nutmeg-like spiciness. Mouthfeel has a nice crispness to it,

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Standard 12 oz longneck. OK label. Dull, medium brown beer with a foamy white head. Somewhat stale cereal malt aroma with some faint perfume-florality. Lightly sweet, nutty, cereal, toasty, woody notes. Woody astringency at times. Slippery mouthfeel, good effervescence. Nicely bitter finish. New Leaf Market.

Slight fruits and mild pumkin and malty flavor to this. Rather bland but not offensive. Butterscotch and sweet. 12oz bottle pour at home - amber color with barely any white head

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clear golden amber with a full white head that laces the glass. Aroma is caramel and spices. Taste is sweet caramel malt, butterscotch, biscuits and just the right amount of hop bitterness to balance. Top drawer Oktoberfest.
