This unique Barley Wine Style beer is brewed iwth 57% wheat, 43% barley, and German hops. We boil the 25.2 Plato wort for three hours. Then we start the fermentation with our Hefe Weizen yeast and finish it with a Scottish Ale yeast. Bare Tree is then oak aged for over one year before its release. The resulting product is extremely complex with flavors of caramel, melon, apricot, vanilla, oak, black pepper, and subtle banana. The flavors come in large part from the raw ingredients and this will vary from year to year. Bare Tree is ready to drink now, but like wine, will age in the bottle for the next several years. So, whether you decide to enjoy a bottle now or wait many years, the Two Brothers family offer a toast: "With every bare tree lives the promise of a new life." CHEERS. The 2002 vintage was aged in whisky and wine barrels.

Each vintage is rated here. Seperate vintages do not differentiate in recipe but do in their barrel usage. Because of this and Brewers Intent without changing of names or labels and leaving no differentiation for the beer drinker, these are not seperate listings. If Two Brothers decides to specifically market these products based on their barrel type in the future, changes can be made.

Bottle pour 2008 vintage.Hazy golden/orange color with a small white head.Aroma was very subtle with citrus and floral notes in the forefront. Taste was about the same with hints of wheat and a little tartness.Flavors were blended very well, no one overpowering the other but blended very well. Very nice brew and will not hesitate to drink again.

2013 37.5ml from Total Wine, Miami FL. This is really good, though I donít have a huge frame of reference for style - along the lines of FFF/Mikeller Hvedegoop, but lighter and more weiss-y. Flavour is really complex, dry yet sweet at the same time - apples, banana, vanilla bean. Rose petals, smooth aftertaste. Aroma of wheat beer and booze. Thick coating of the mouth. 11% is very well hidden, doesnít seem boozy at all. Two Brothers usually impress me, and so does this. Be warned when pouring of the insane amount of really floaty yeast though.

2013 Bottle from my cellar, dont remember where I got it from. Pours clear blonde, regular sized white head. Smell is chemical, dry yeasty ( lager style yeast almost ) sweet, some honey, some fruity ( grape ? ) aspect. Strong scent, but not to be called great. Taste has characteristics of what Iíd call a typical belgian blonde beer. The overripe fruit notes from the strongly tasteable yeast, the mild bitterness and the thick sweetness. Drinks rather easy though. And less carbonation than the permanently overcarbonated Belgian beers. Appart from these diffrences, this could very well be yet another abbey beer blonde. You dont taste the booze, really. All and all I dont love it though

Bottle shared thanks to estover. Pours a brownish orange with no head. Seems completely flat. Aromas of pils malt. Grape skins. Honey. Not what I was expecting. Smells like a really strong Budweiser. Sweet taste. Not my thing.

Bottle sampled at a tasting event. From notes. Caramel, citrus and wheat. This is the 2012 vintage. A bit past its prime, but still very good.

Bottle: (2010 vintage) Pours bubbly amber with a tall, off-white head. Aroma of soft, baked bread, banana, wheat. Taste is sweet, delicate...apricot, banana, orange-candy. Like a very sweet tripel...was my first thought.....or a dunkel... Alcohol is barely noticeable.. Remarkably airy and light for the big flavours coming through. Really good.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2015 Unlike the other wine styled beers Iíve had, this one could trick you at the beginning. I was drinking it with food and it tasted just like a normal white at the beginning. Tastes very Belgian. Mild to medium breadiness. Has a beer middle taste, with a sweet wine finish with some candied fruits. very carbonated. This is the 2014 bottle *Update after having 2013 bottle* The fruitiness is more pronounced this more aged version. Yeast profile is more developed with a stronger belgian flavor. Bitterness is lower, but was already low to begin with. Tastes more like a beer than a wine this time though, like maybe a strong ale instead of an actual white wine.

2012 bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is caramel and sugar malt. Medium mouth, candy sugar, sweet, toffee, good.

Pours a clear orange with a small amount of head. A light grape note in the nose. interesting mix of flavors. Light, but with a strong note of plum and strong alcohol notes that fades into a slightly sour apple aftertaste. Iíve not had this style before, but itís definitely interesting- more drinkable than standard barley wines.
