Indra (1829), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jul 2, 2008 12oz. bottle. Dark malty, grainy aroma, suggestions of the palm sugar and rye, showing hints of citrus, fresh hops and brown sugar. Medium sienna in color, head is uneven and lasting, nice lacing as well. Flavor contains a fairly unique and strong blend of sugary malts and hop citrus, combined with dry, chocolate malt touches and a lasting, spicy bitterness. Coats the palate in an intriguing way. Certain unfamilar fruity aftertaste. Active and effervescent on the palate, dry with a lingering bitter quality. Body is fairly full, even a bit of warmth here. Lingering phenolic character late (menthol?). Very unexpectedly different creation. Thanks to csbosox for the chance to try it.
TeamTrappist (140), jericho, New York, USA Aug 29, 2008 Tap at The Diamond. Poured a dark amber with a thin head. Nice hop nose, with a creamy vanilla spicey taste to it. Interesting with the rye, and then a good strong hop flavor backs the whole thing up, with a nice bitter finish. gnoff (2567), Göteborg, Sweden Aug 27, 2008 (Bottle at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) On August 23, 2008 BB 9/30/08 Clear dark brown color, small tan head. Caramel, sweet malty, floral hoppy scent. Hoppy bitter taste. Smooth mouthfeel, high bitterness. jason (1500), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2008 Bottle. Poured a deep red amber body with thin head. Aroma is aggressive hops, caramel. Flavor is very hoppy, caramel and very sweet. Syrupy at times. sstackho (249), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 22, 2008 12oz single bottle purchased for $3.50 - I think it was from Bauer Wines in Boston. Pours a dark reddish copper with massive fluffy head. Decent hoppy aroma. First taste is sweet. Is that the cane sugar they refer to on the label? Solid balance between a lot of hops and a lot of malt. Full bodied. Good stuff, but tough to say if it’s worth the premium.
ChuxBeer23 (4), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA does not count Aug 21, 2008 Rep brought this in to sample, and this blew us away. This reminded me of Stone 10th Anniversary which happens to be one of my favorites of all time.
Huge complex aroma and taste that inspire verbal confirmations on how good it is with each sip.
Run out and get it if you like big IPAs. Must try.
