Thanks to Philip for the bottle! Pours a hazy yellow body topped with a huge fluffy white foam. Good retention and some nice lace. Aroma is mostly fresh cloves with a hint of banana and pear. This is a very tasty example. Huge lemon zing with lots of sweet banana and cloves. FInish is spicy, tart, with a dash of sweet vanilla cupcakes. Very refreshing and very, very good. Wow, thanks so much Phil!

This offering poured from a 12oz bottle pours a hazy golden color that leaves a thin off-white head that stays with the beer. The aroma is sweet. Wheat, lemon, pepper, yeast, grass, are all present in the nose of this brew. The taste is sublime, cloves, bananas, orange peel are all dancing on your tongue. This hefe has a syrup consistancy wheaty, bready, and has a distinct lemon flavor...finally the brew finishes on a citrus hop profile with a banana bread spice finish.

Very good aroma, strong clove/banana, good deep straw color, slightly more sour than I would like for a drinkable weissbier, but not unbearable.

Bottle. Gold color with a thick white head that settles quick to just a thin sheen. Aroma is sour tangerine zest. Taste is tart and hoppy with just the faintest of banana. More lemon and lime flavors than anything else.

(01.28.06) 12 oz brown bottle purchased from DiCarlo’s, Mundelein, IL. 4.9% ABV. Hazy deep golden yellow having a small white head with spare lacing. Soft carbonation. Spicy smoke aroma. Light-to-medium bodied that starts with light malt sweetness and spicy and smokey flavors. Finishes dry. Crisp and refreshing, this is a good drinkable wheat beer.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy, dusty yellow. Scents of yeast, spice and banana. Delicious. Creamy, with banana and citrus rolling together in the mouth. Wonderful blend of sour/citrus. Completely enjoyed this one.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with Ughsmash, thanks Jason!) The first time I tried this beer a few years ago, the sourness was pervasive enough that I thought the beer was infected. This is my second crack at it, and it still has a rather citrusy sour presentation for a German hefeweizen. It’s as if this was being served with a few wedges of lemon dropped in the beer. Alongside the lemony sourness is a moderate wheat flavor and a relatively mild presence of banana, but no clove or bubblegum. The beer is minimally sweet and shows almost no bitterness either. Light bodied with a very carbonated mouthfeel and a watery finish. Citrusy sourness also dominates the nose, with hints of banana and wheat, but only if I swirl the glass. Pale golden color and fully cloudy. The off-white head is very fizzy and dissipates as noisily, rapidly and completely as soda. While my only strong complaints are the watery body, the ugly heading, and the assertive citrusy sourness, I really just don’t have anything positive to say about this beer. It’s nothing at all like what I desire in a German hefeweizen and rest assured I won’t be drinking another bottle of this again.

Bottle, best before 12/26/2005 consumed on 12/10/05. Very soft, tangerine and honey colored pour. Unfiltered and hazy, with plenty of sediment in the bottle. Moderate sized white head quickly fizzles to a ring. No lacing. Aroma of biscuits, dry, muted clove and vanilla, touches of lemon and tangerine juice. Light honey on the end and just a touch of banana flavored oatmeal. Flavor is banana and clove, dry and wheaty, with a creamy wheatmeal sort of flavor on end, and similar chewy wheat texture. Lemon bitterness lingers on in the finish. Quite dry overall, but the light touch of honey towards the end is well-placed for maximum effect. Bubble gum esters watch from the sidelines; they are there, but not very influential. More lemon, biscuits and honey-vanilla on end with light yeast dryness/blandness. Still a bit watery from how little malt sugars there are in there. Low carbonation, lightly creamy at times.
