COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With nice, malty sweetness and a soft aroma of clove, vanilla and banana, this German-style hefe weizen is unfiltered for a glowing orange hue.

Pretty unimpressive. No head, which is inexcusable in a wheat beer. Palate is thin, as is the flavor. Some wheat yeast notes like clove, but not many. These fellows have produced so much finer stuff.

Cloudy amber with negligible white head. Found a smokiness to the nose. Body was weak and watery. Smoky flavor, too. Just didnít do it for me.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2004 Lot 1503. Pours a HUGE frothy head, maybe because I just got home with it. Cloudy amber body. Has a sweet lemon wheat aroma. Sour lemon flavor, with added sweetness to make it bearable. Added to the lemon is banana. Bubbles bite the tongue a bit. Not too sure about the sour aspect of this one.

Color is a bright, golden hue, cloudy at the top, clear at the foot. Iíve poured the contents of this bottle into a fantastic weizen glass, Aventinus, to insure optimum conditions, and produced a large, fluffy, proud, white head. Aroma is all the usual earmarks for style: fresh, a touch floral, but large with lemon, some spiciness, yes, vanilla, yes, I can imagine cloviness, and thereís a whiff of bananas. Quite enticing and appetizing, but not as large as other weizens Iíve enjoyed. The palate feels great graininess, followed by a phalanx of hops that continues itís advance throughout the finish. Light body, low malt, but the flavor continues sip after sip. An excellent summery brew that leaves me yearning for more, and anticipating more, perhaps bolder weizens when spring really starts to show itself. Very, very drinkable, but the flavor and aroma is a bid mild for my taste.

Whew - Way too sweet, spicy, and estery for me. It didn't have enough edge to balance out all that dessert like power. Clove, Vanilla, and Banana it indeed has, with a vengeance that got nasty, to my taste.

Not sure if Ebelweiss has been renamed, or this is a limited edition, but the label clearly calls this "Ebel's Weiss Beer," and states that it's 4.9% abv. Paid $7.99 for a 6-pack. Very light golden, no head, even with a hard pour. There's a small chunk of something in my beer... and my glass was clean, so this came from the bottle. It looks like a piece of gum. Nice banana aroma... not very strong. Taste is OK, nothing special. Tastes like drinking a bud and eating a banana at the same time. VERY thin in the mouthfeel... very lightly carbonated. Not enough, in my opinion. It's OK to drink, but not something I'll buy again.

Bottled. A bit pale for type, totally opaque, large creamy head, medium thickness. Nose very malty-sweet, bananas foster, touch of vanilla. Lemon-orange-banana in the flavor, zesty with spice, but little beeriness, too soft and sweet.

Pretty tasty. Nice citrusy notes and a refreshing finish. Not a stunner, however, as it lacks the complexity of a true german wheat.

Cloudy gold, spicy aroma. Flavor is rather dry and low in spice, even though billed as a German hefeweizen. Dry finish.
