sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA Dec 21, 2007 Bottle. Cloudy yellow/orange pour with a bif foamy white head and lively columns of carbonation. Aromas of banana, clove, and lemon. Light wheat malt flavors with some citric tartness at first, but mellowing into a more of a flat bready flavor. Seems to become progressively papery and thin. Meh. cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Oct 2, 2007 Encroaching upon the best by date, there was no notice of deterioration within the three bottles I enjoyed during the Brown’s surprising victory over Baltimore. That being said I discovered that this is another one of the few more genuine American Hefe’s I’ve come across. Good aroma of spicy cloves, mild banana, and creamy vanilla (could be more abundant). Cloudy and bright orange-yellow color with a small head and spotty lacing, not too impressive. Spritzy and lively mouth feel that is slightly tart with a mellow dryness. Rather authentic flavor of this traditional German style. Firm banana and clove are primarily featured. Dry wheat malt along with a touch of honey and some bready malts. Good one. kimcgolf (825), Dacula, Georgia, USA Sep 29, 2007 Poured to a hazy golden yellow with decent carbonation and a nice white head that lasts awhile and leves okay lacing. By far, the highlight of this beer is the aroma, which is a nice crisp mixture of coriander, banana, cookie dough and a hint of orange. Mouthfeel is sweet, somewhat chewy and a bit tingly from the spice. Flavor is a muted version of the aroma, but with all elements present.
The only downfall to this beer was the finish, which was slightly stale, short and watery, All in all though, a very enjoyable summer beer. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Sep 22, 2007 Pour is a golden with a large white head. Aroma is a nice clove with some spice and wheat. Flavor is not as great as the aroma. Some clove show up but nothing special. Just very ok for a hefe. 17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 21, 2007 Updated: Jul 28, 2008Rich golden hazy pour with a huge white foam on top, beautiful wheat. Sweet wheat aroma, a little bit hot, lots of ripe banana. Sweet ripe banana flavor, tons of clove, touch of vanilla... extremely sweet but almost close to German in flavor. Some definite lemon in there and long bitter finish. Body is too thin and watery, not much carbonation. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Ebel Weiss

xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Aug 25, 2007 On tap at the Streetside Cafe in Chicago. Light yellow color with tiny white head. Aroma was very characteristic hefe with lots of citrus and light yeast. Flavor was interesting, orange citrus, but with an interesting American hop character that was the backbone to the flavor, also some spice, and sweet. Med body with light carb. A very nice beer overall and the hop profile is impressive for a hefeweizen. Kiwano (9), USA does not count Aug 22, 2007 A light yellow straw-like color with a fair head on top. The smell is a little bit of citrus and yeast. This hefe weizen tastes light and has a little bit of citrus but sometimes has a little bit of a metallic finish. It is not as sweet as some other Hefe Weizens and in general doesn’t have as much flavor as I would have liked.
Medium to light consistency with a nice amount of carbonation.
Overall, a fair hefe weizen on the lighter side. It is tastes good but is not a hefe weizen of choice but rather one that I would have if there weren’t better options available.
