3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: FEB 26, 2006 New rating, 2/26/06. Got a fresher bottle this time (best by 1/30/06), so letís recheck this pup: I can see I was seduced then by malts that get concentrated with age. This one pours a darker gold color, and a bit more haze than in most American iterations of a weizen. Big banana nose at pour, but not much in the glass, just a sprightly wheat character under a fluffy, short-lived head, poured into a 12-oz. weizen glass. Banana comes back in the taste, with mild notes of clove, and a touch of bubble-gum and vanilla. Not quite the heady feeling I get when drinking a properly-presented Hacker-Pschorr, but I think real Hefeweizen fans will enjoy it.

Another 3-year-old bottle from my stash, so this is a review of how well it ages, which a weiss is not meant to do.
A slight flowery nose when opened, then pours a dark weiss color, with a little less than standard haziness. The spicy flavor has subsided, leaving the malt to deepen to an almost syrupy richness. Hop flavor is subtle, more to make the alcohol feel a little warmer. Taste is well out of the style profile, but ages to a fine beer nonetheless.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Mildly tart. Other than that, this is a good fruity wheat hefeweizen. Yeasty, not much banana but more clove and other fruit flavors.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Gift from Tyler. Nice notes of banana, wheat, clove and orange. Body was a tad too thin for my tastes, but over all, a good representation of the style.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Refreshingly citrusy/wheaty aroma. Malt is a strong orange/clove/banana flavor. Slight spice but not very yeasty...a bit too carbonated perhaps. Not perfectly smooth but above average flavor for a wheat. Banana notes in the finish

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a small head and no real lacing. Aroma of banana, citrus bit of spice and yeast. Taste on citrus, banana, subtle malt sweetness, a bit herbal with yeast in the background. Mild bitterness and a bit of a tangy finish. Light body, smooth and a bit of an herbal flair. Not a bad beer just not one of my favorite styles.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle found in the mark down bin at AJís. (Best by 6/3/14) But still very lively. It pours a cloudy light golden color as you take in the aroma of bananas, cloves and citrus. There is a very good banana/wheat and lemon taste to it that make for very smooth and easy drinking.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours lightly hazy golden yellow with a small white head. The aroma has banana, clove, clean rich wheat, light bubble gum and caramel. It has a medium smoothish body with lots of fairly gentle carbonation. The flavor begins with banana, bubble gum and caramel. There is a smooth wheat and huskiness as well. The finish has dry caramel, cloves and dried bananas. Really nice hefe and much better than I remember it being. Could be getting it stupid fresh as it just arrived back in MO.

Pours deep, cloudy yellow-bordering-on-orange with very little head and lacing. Aroma of clove and lemon zest. Lots of lemon in the flavor. Yeast prominent. Also some spice. Easy drinker; tasty and refreshing on this late summer day.
