Heavier Handed is one of a series of special limited-run beers in the styles that are more extreme or unusual. This Artisan Beer is in celebration of our new French oak tanks, called "Foudres". Tons of fresh, wet hops from Washington State power through this stepped up version of our seasonal IPA.

Clear dark amber color/ fleeting head. Earthy dirt, pungent grassy hop aromas. medium body. Nice floral grassy spicy hop flavors on a sharp caramel malty base. heavy handed hop usage here pardon the pun.

Thanks to Sprinkle for the bottle! NP10V4! Hazy amber pour with a fizzy off white head. Aroma is mostly grapefruit and light oak. Thats about it for the oak as I didnt pick up much on the flavor. Flavor is toasty, citric, grapefruit, and light pine. Dry finish with a blast of earthiness and caramel

Bomber. Pours clear copper with soapy off-white head. Aromas of pine, citrus, good amount of hops, and some malty sweetness. Flavor is bitter hops, pine, citrus, light wood, and sweet malt. Finishes bitter hops, underlying malt, and light wood note. There is a fair amount of sweet malts but there is enough bitterness with the hops to balance it out. I like the BA IPAs and this one is pretty good.

Bottle. An enjoyable and not at all overly sweet DIPA that also doesnít have any unique characteristics and for me no hint of the oak. Thatís all I got to say.

Bomber from my Secret Santa - thanks Santa! I found the regular Heavy Handed to be a solid but not spectacular brew, and thatís about how I judge the double too. Very bready aroma, as in quickly fading hops, but still with some sharp and bitter notes. Decent enough pour, amber but not much in the way of carbonation. Mouthfeel is moderately full. The flavor is quite chewy and malty, with hops certainly there but almost taking a back seat to the thicker, sweeter flavors of a barleywine. Decent.

Pours fizzy, orangy-copper. Aroma is closed, maybe its too cold. Whats there is comes through as oak and light citrus. The flavor is quite piney-bitter, some nice citrus flavors, and the oak on the finish. Its a bit thin, but the hop flavor lasts quite a while. Its like getting a bear hug from a hop vine, very nice.

Bottle. Deep amber pour with a thick sticky off-white head. The nose is nice with lots of bright pine and citrus along with a kiss of vanilla over a nice light malt sweetness. Very fresh herbal hop component that integrated pretty nicely with the lightly peppery ethanol contribution. There is a very light vineousness along with the light tropical fruit and pine. A really nice kiss of pine/spice in this IPA. Soft bitterness that just sneaks up on the back of the palate. I really enjoyed this.

Bottle courtesy of a college friend. Pour is rich hazy deep deep copper with minimal white head. Aroma is strong pine hop, light caramel malt, light wood, and really pretty fresh smelling. Flavor is bitter hop throughout with a light cookie malt kick in the finish. Also a nice crisp pine hop flavor in the finish with just a bit of wood and yeast. It has retained a lot of the qualities of an IPA even with the barrel aging. The only thing it lost was an overpowering malty sweetness. Which it may not have had anyway. Itís good.

Found some old notes from a visit to 69 Taps in Medina. Mahogany pour with a yellowish tan head. The aroma is more fruity than hoppy. The beer is med-light bodied. The hop is not over powering the bitterness is lower than expected. The maltss are sweet and well matched to the hops. The finish is sharp and smooth. Very nice IPA!

Courtesy Solan. Big copper pour. Malty body, lots of hop bitterness. Huge pine citrus hop aroma. Great for the lover of hops.
