Happy full moon. Pours an awesome glowing bronze with a thick off-white head that leaves some sticky, intricate lace. Nose involves a big dose of pine resin, some orange and grapefruit citrus, some grassiness, marmalade, apricot and peach, floral notes, some light honey, biscuit, and toasted malt notes. Fairly sweet, lightly tart, and quite bitter. Medium toward full bodied, oily, fair carb, juicy, sticky, a touch soapy, with a lingering drying bitter and juicy citrus tart finish. Enjoying the balance, and the exuberant fresh hop notes. I’ve said juicy like three times now, but that’s what’s going on. Incredibly fresh tasting, very rewarding. This year’s version involves locally grown Illinois hops, and I’m pretty impressed with how it turned out.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is spices, hops and slight nuttiness. The flavor is citrus, biscuit malts, light grapefruit, a hint of hop resin and a dryish/tangy finish. Perhaps slightly older than optimal, still very good.
