Bottle shared in Room 316 of the Tulip, Bodegraven, after day II of Borefts ’13, big thanks to Kenny for dragging this one further east and for his slap bass efforts on his thigh! Clear dark golden amber with a good sized off white head. Nose is caramel malt, hops, bitter grapefruit, orange. Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, pine, orange pith, toasted malts. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, dry grassy finish with a good dose of hop bitterness. Decent DIPA.

Aroma is spices, hops and slight nuttiness. The flavor is citrus, biscuit malts, light grapefruit, a hint of hop resin and a dryish/tangy finish. Perhaps slightly older than optimal, still very good.

CanIHave4Beers (3322) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - JAN 24, 2013
Pours golden with a good head and nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is pungent, and almost stinky (in a good way) some nice dank hoppiness, some light anise, some fresh greens and a touch of light oak.

The flavor is lightly sweet and nicely hoppy, some endive bitterness, some vanilla, and a nice all around hop character. Odd, but tasty.

Two brothers always seems to manage to do something totally different with this sort of thing, with a pretty high success rate (at least as far as I’m concerned) This was a very fun beer to try.

Location: Bottle at Paul’s Tasting, 1/5/13

Aroma: It has a nose of fresh/wet hops, some pine, and light oak
Appearance: This beer pours a nice looking, clear copperish color with a bubbly head
Flavor: The flavor is fairly hoppy, with a little sweetness and oak to it as well
Palate: This one has a smooth, clean feel, some oiliness, and a fairly nice drinkability
Overall Impression:  I quite enjoyed this one, and my notes indicate that it was even better then I expected I would be.

Bottle, thanks for sharing CanIHave4Beers! The body was dark orange with some copper tinting. There was an off white head. The nose was rich caramel with some almonds. There was also some pine and grapefruit, but they were more muted behind the big malt body. The taste was grapefruit along with lots of grapefruit. There was also a bit of almonds. There was some funk and apple core. Nicely balanced, but not for those looking for their big hop fix.

Pours a brilliantly clear copper color. Thin white head that leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is a bit mild and can only pick up a bit of eathyness. Lots of alcohol in the flavor surrounding by citrus rind. Very dry finish that leaves with bitterness and hints of wood.

Dark gold pour with a 1-2 finger, soapy white head. Aroma is caramel, sweet malt, citrus, orange slice candy, light berry notes, light buttery oak, toast and pine. Flavor is toast, buttery oak, toffee, herbal hops, citrus hops, pine hops, burnt sugar, lots of overly strong fruity (berry and tree fruit) notes, a pretty large amount of booziness for 8.1%abv, light earthy spice, hints of dry leaves and bread to the finish along with a lingering burnt sugar, toffee and sweet tree fruit finish. Medium body with a creamy to oily entry and dry, bordering on astringent finish. Decent IIPA, a little too boozy and fruity, enough bitterness, but lacking in hoppy freshness and depth.

Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL, enjoyed at a friends house prior to going out for his birthday. Appearance is a cloudy, opaque gold with a prevalent white head. Aroma is hoppy with notes of oak, caramel malt, and a bit of honey. Taste leaves kind of a rough taste, hoppy with an abrasive wood flavor, notes of caramel malt as well. I thought it was good, not something I’d usually drink, but good for the special occasion.
