3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a brilliantly clear copper color. Thin white head that leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is a bit mild and can only pick up a bit of eathyness. Lots of alcohol in the flavor surrounding by citrus rind. Very dry finish that leaves with bitterness and hints of wood.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark gold pour with a 1-2 finger, soapy white head. Aroma is caramel, sweet malt, citrus, orange slice candy, light berry notes, light buttery oak, toast and pine. Flavor is toast, buttery oak, toffee, herbal hops, citrus hops, pine hops, burnt sugar, lots of overly strong fruity (berry and tree fruit) notes, a pretty large amount of booziness for 8.1%abv, light earthy spice, hints of dry leaves and bread to the finish along with a lingering burnt sugar, toffee and sweet tree fruit finish. Medium body with a creamy to oily entry and dry, bordering on astringent finish. Decent IIPA, a little too boozy and fruity, enough bitterness, but lacking in hoppy freshness and depth.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL, enjoyed at a friends house prior to going out for his birthday. Appearance is a cloudy, opaque gold with a prevalent white head. Aroma is hoppy with notes of oak, caramel malt, and a bit of honey. Taste leaves kind of a rough taste, hoppy with an abrasive wood flavor, notes of caramel malt as well. I thought it was good, not something I’d usually drink, but good for the special occasion.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks solid; a transparent orange with white lacing. Smells and tastes hops and malt, but the oak isn’t discernible, and detracts from the flavor of the beer. Average on the palate. Alright, but underwhelming.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a nonic half pint glass.
Pours deep golden with amber and orange hues. One finger head which slowly reduces to a thin foam ring. No lacing. Tropical fruit dominates by pineapple on the nose. Opens with pineapple and hint of mango and papaya, joined by sweet caramel malt. Finishes with some grapefruit rind bitterness, a very mild accent of oak, and some phenol alcohol. Medium bodied, mild carbonation, oily and sticky. Heavier Handed is a decent enough brew, but it seems the heavy malt bill overwhelms the contributions of the wet hops leading to a brew that is a bit unbalanced and overly sweet. Heavy Handed never seems to disappoint, but this double version aged in french oak isn’t as impressive.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber to snifter. Clear copper,ok head/lacing.
Honey off the bat aroma.Dank, resin, pine, mild fruit-floral and very spicey nobel like spice.Pretty well-rounded and nice aroma overall.
Good mouthfeel, hoppy, first sip remined me of Hopslam. There is base taste of honey(from the oak, maybe?) carmel malt candiedness, piney with mildly grassyness, mild herbal and aclassic double ipa strength taste of hinding alcohol with hop flavor, dries up good in the finish.NOt too bitter really but more of a hoppy spice kick to it. Its more of a drying like bitter. I definatly like this better than the Heavy handed which Im not a fan of.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz bottle pours a clear reddish amber with a fair off-white head and some lacing. Smell is not strong. Aroma mixes citrus and piney hops, caramel malts and some oak. Taste is sweet without much of a finish. Body is medium, but with a bit more carbonation than I like. This is not at all the big beer I was expecting from the name and style. I would have preferred a plain old outrageous hop bomb to this curious concoction.
