Heavier Handed is one of a series of special limited-run beers in the styles that are more extreme or unusual. This Artisan Beer is in celebration of our new French oak tanks, called "Foudres". Tons of fresh, wet hops from Washington State power through this stepped up version of our seasonal IPA.

bottle shared by jlab: Aroumatic toffee and raisins. reddish brown pour. Toffee and caramel malts, nutty, herbal and some breadiness. Not too much bitter but finishes astringent and grassy.

bottle shared by anand and beth- Thanks! sticky caramel and sweet dough malt backing. some pleasant pine and floral hop character, though it has faded a bit. Has become more melon than hop forward. Not sure about the age of the bottle. I don’t get much wood in these two brothers beers. good, but probably better when fresh.

Pours with a short, creamy, bubbly off-white head. Aroma of hops, strawberries, and oak. Tastes slightly bitter with lots of bubbles and a smooth texture. Flavor is hard to place with lots of hops, resin, bread malts, strawberry, and alcohol. Pretty smooth overall, but I wish it was in a 12oz rather than 22oz, cause that is a lot of thick beer to drink at once.

Tasted from bottle. Pours clear, dark, amber with a thick beige head that recedes to heavy lace. Nose is nice caramel malt with some grapefruit hops and fresh red apple. The flavors are very well balanced with hops, malt, and fruitiness coming through equally. The apple flavor is rather strong and very unique to and IPA for me. The body is medium plus with average carbonation and a long apple and bitter finish.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2010 Bottle. Hops, sweet malts, and oak come out. Notes of pepper, citrus, and whiskey stand out. Palate is smooth. Flavor brings out oak, finishing with a nice bitter hoppy bite. One of the best oak aged ipas I have had.

Thanks to zdk9 for sharing this bottle. The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the orange and pine hops. The flavor is more of the same with orange and resiny hops with some oaked notes. The hop profile is heavier on the citrus hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This was my first Two Brothers beer and I hope to try more from them in the future.

Bottle. My style so I really liked it. Golden Amber, cloudy, nice light creamy tan head and some lacing. Plenty of malts and aromatic hops just to that cliff edge.

Pours a copper orange color with a fruity aroma with some essence of hops. Very fruity sweet taste with some grapefruit and a mild bitterness at the end. Enjoyable session beer.

Bonus 22oz after a PtY trade - thanks John! Pours a pretty golden orange with minimal head that disappears quickly. Nose is full of juicy citric hops, light wood, apple juice and sweet malt. Flavor is very much the same, though the wood steals some of the hoppy brightness. Flatness makes the whole thing a mite sweeter than I prefer.
