3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber shared by chswimmer on BA. Thanks, Craig! This bottle seemed aged and a bit past prime, but since it was already oak aged, I figure itís worth a review. Pours a clear copper color with a decently formed white head. Aroma is very oaky and woody with caramel as well as citrusy and resinous hops. Fairly sweet, with lots of caramel malt on the flavor. Also some serious oakiness going on. As for the hop aroma and flavor, this actually seemed a little "lighter handed" but the bitterness is definitely there. Could have been due to age. Hop profile is mainly resin and citrus. Medium-full bodied and only mildly syrupy. This actuall works pretty well as sort of a lower ABV barleywine. May have been better fresh, but the aged version is a solid beer in its own right.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle, $7 at Binnyís, Dec. 09. "Oak Foudre Aged." Pours dark amber in my Goose IPA stem, dark brown in the center, with two finger yellowish head. Hop smell is not too heavy, like a cross between pine resin and honey. I can get a bigger noseful if I position myself just right, though. Mmmm. Taste is a big wide paintbrush slapping a hop tea reduction right on my tongue. Plenty of sturdy malts are there, but the main feature is the pile of hops, almost but not exactly masking the alcohol. A studmuffin beer!

22oz - Aroma is full of caramel and resinous pine hops and a touch of oak. Flavor starts with doughy caramel malts followed by tangy hops. Palate starts creamy and finishes bitter. A very tasty DIPA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber. Pours to a glowing orange body with a tall and lasting light khaki head. Awesome lacing. The aroma has a sweet cereal and oak thing going on mixed with sweet hops. Corn Pops or Captain Crunch? The flavor is sweet lightly oaken cereal with some bitter hops. Surprisingly balanced. A bit sticky on the palate and the IBUís donít shine. Medium bodied and not crisp.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy amber pour with a medium off white head with good lacing. Aromas of pine and soy sauce. Sweet, slightly toasty malts with a complex and strong hop profile. This is...just great.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is earthy notes of wood and hops. Flavor is some of the most savory hops,I have had the pleasure of tasting. It had a very light citrus taste and a bitter lemon like finish. The wood notes are subtle but present and make this something well worth the experience.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Big thanks, as always, to the MCLK. Pours clear copper with thin off white head. The aroma is afoul with spicy hops, a dash of earthiness, big grapefruit and orange rind. The taste is smooth and a tad thin with suitable levels of spicy hops, grapefruit hops and a dash of sour to tart orange ring. It seems midway and to the finish a bit of sweet malts and possibly a wood note surfaces amid all the hoppiness.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
22 oz bottle. Thought Heavy Handed IPA was good, but excited to try this, as I like other stuff by Two Brothers. Pours a reddish-golden color with a tiny off-white head that dies quickly. Smells of caramel malt and light hops. Tastes of malt, oak, and a hint of hops, but is really boring. Light bodied too. Not impressive.
