Crystal clear, dark yellow color with a foamy, white head. Sweet and bitter nose of roses and hops, raisins and orange. A pretty good IPA all around. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA Nov 19, 2006 Updated: Oct 4, 20072006 lot # 3006 cluster. nice dark copper hue with a two finger white head and light to medium body with descent lacing. has a small sweet hop smell with some pine. has a nice hop taste with some pine and orange peel. very nice, loads of hops, a definite must try.
2007 lot #2687 centennial. the aftertaste is top notch fresh long lasting hops and pine. aroma is like bitter end but a bit stronger still mostly malt like bitter end with a touch of pine and orange peel especially when it warms a bit. one and a half finger head this time around. a bit flat but a bit oily as well. starts off some pine but really gets going from middle to end and as i mentioned the aftertaste sticks around. nice sticky lacing and sticky to the touch. really grows from start to finish to the aftertaste. gearbike (413), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Nov 13, 2006 Cask pull at clark street in chicago.
It is heavy/strong. Alcohol is a bit overwhelming. Under all the spirits it is a grapefruit type hoppiness. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Nov 9, 2006 Bottle. Nice caramel and (grapefruit) hops aroma, malty and presumably thick. Some light sweetness there. Pours copper with a brief off-white head. Bitter hoppy taste, not quite rubbery, and a little oily despite a thick, creamy, full body. Hoppy and resinous. Maltier than most IPAs. Milde Weltanschauung. Sessionable with restrained but deeply satisfying flavor, really could drink a lot of this. tramp55555 (42), Lisbon, Ohio, USA Nov 8, 2006 An excellent beer all around, you would be proud to serve this at your next tasting.
The taste? To hell with my opinion, get some and try it. You won’t be sorry. wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Nov 6, 2006 12oz bottle. Lot#2806. clear copper with a small off white head that settles into a thin film. aroma grapefruit hops with a nice malty backbone. balanced bittersweet flavor. caramel and hops. something slightly spicy. ginger? big bitter hoppy finish that lasts forever. medium body. moderate carbonation. slightly sticky. fairly standard but very good ipa. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 31, 2006 Lot 2556. Magnifying and polished copper-brass in color with a fuzzy, grayish tan head fizzling away on top. Solid hop aroma with a touch of fabric softener amidst the rutabaga, mango, papaya skin and plummed grapefruit pulp. Some nectary toffee meets an aromatic amaretto-ginger surplus to provide a decent whiffer. Lovely flavor hop performance and mouthfeel status is attained at first sip. Pralines and caramel butter meet candied spruce in a jovial sap fashion. Supple carbonation with orange buttered toffee slides in with smooth citric affirmations. Hearty mango innards and stiff papaya work it out with greasy graham crust. Cherry pipe tobacco peers in with a mild hotness despite the low ABV. Crystallized ginger dulls the taste buds minorly, but suitably. A spearmint leaf lined with maple and caramel currants carry through unto the finish. Well played.
