BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Oct 2, 2005 [12 oz. bottle] Citrusy aroma and flavors to match. Pours a nice amber color with a decent head. This brew was nice, but something bitter was left lingering in the aftertaste. A decent IPA. OldGrowth (1405), North Carolina, USA Oct 1, 2005 Bottle, from Julio’s, lot 2525. Good nose, bittersweet. Citrusy, lemon, grapefruit, lime. Clean brownish orange color, small head that quickly reduced to a ring. Bitter flavors. Like aromas with a metallic, soapy thing. Medium body, sticky mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Good brew, but I’d like it to have a little more to it’s malts. Some caramel would mix in great. mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Jul 10, 2005 Bottle. Very overcarbonated. Orange hazy in color with a huge white head. Hoppy, fruity malty aroma. Citrusy. Very hoppy and yeasty. Hoppy fruity flavor. Decent beer. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA Jul 9, 2005 Bottle from Lot 2954. Overcarbonated. Fermentation is taking place in the bottle on this one. They need to figure out the proper amount of priming sugar to put in, because what they used is way too much. Reminds me of my last batch of homebrew. Yeast took forever to ferment, and I guess kept going after bottling, and whalla! Gusher city. Anyway, orange, relatively clear, tons of floaties, with a huge head and lots of carbonation. Aroma is a mix of fruity yeastiness and hops. Flavor is a little yeasty, with flowery hops and decent amounts of malts. Not too sweet, and I am pretty certain that the yeast took care of that factor rather well. Relieved that this was not more problematic than the ring in the bottle suggests and it is just an over-bottle prime fermentation thingy.Tasty and very homebrewesque indeed. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Jun 21, 2005 12 oz bottle. Cloudy copper with a dense, lasting off white head. Nice hoppy and spicy aroma. Taste is sticky sweet with flavors of piney hops, grapefruit and an odd caramel. As it warms, I found my hand getting heavy as the second half wasn’t as drinkable. Perhaps the malts were too sweet, I dunno but not that enjoyable. hopdog (5525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 29, 2005 Poured a dark amber color with a huge (5 finger) off white head. Aromas of mainly citrus with light pine. Tastes of grapefruit, light pine and oranges. Medium to heavy bitter taste. Lightly spicy. Has a sweetness to the finish. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA May 16, 2005 Bottle: Aroma is a little weak. More malty than hoppy with a light citrus but I wouldn’t call it citrus hops. Pours a dull cloudy amber with a creamy off-white head that lasts a minute or so. Some black sediment sitting at the bottom of the glass. Very malty and sweet with a funky sugary and hop flavors in the finish. In the finish it tastes like they just dumped some sugar in this beer. Really unexpected and rather unpleasant. This is pretty bad. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA May 3, 2005 05.03.05 12oz bottle thanks to MrFacto, LOT2954. Particle filled, cloudy amber. Brainy and lofty tan head. Starkly resinous aromas highlighted by strong whiffs of tangerine and touches of sweet malt below. Lots of orange flavors. Lots. And it’s not an artificial orange or orange flavored, but just a great combo of hops and malts that makes me constantly think of dewey and sweet tangerines, pithy too. Maybe some grapefruit touches. Clean and crisp to finish, but not in a nasty Coors Light kind of way. Great quaff, almost too drinkable to put down the glass, pick up the pen, and write. Thanks Matt.
