bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Jan 1, 2005 (Bottle) Pours a lightly cloudy amber body with an off-white head. Nose of grapefruit, pine, and malt. Good hoppy flavor. Bitter finish. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Dec 24, 2004 12 oz bottle. Faintly hazy apricot color with a tinge of pink, medium lasting head and delicate lacing...big orange-grapefruit nose with a dollop of sugar and faint oak...solid mixture of fruitiness and bitter floral hops throughout...dries out a bit at the end, bitterness mixed with just a touch of cardboard (this could be a slightly old bottle), but not enough to really damage this very solid IPA. crumbr (1), Somerville, Massachusetts, USA does not count Dec 21, 2004 Updated: Dec 29, 2004Surprisingly little head but what does develop lasts. Clear and nearly orange body. Lovely hoppy nose with some grapefruit. Well balanced with a nice bite. Long finish makes the tongue tingle. Nice compliment to my sharp cheddar and pepper jack grilled cheese! Take it all with a grain of salt as I’m new at this and recently kicked a cold. Plus, close-out deal made this a steal at $3.99/6 pk! IPAndy (120), minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Dec 12, 2004 Updated: Jun 10, 2006When I think of an IPA, this is what I think of. Extremely well balanced, very fresh tasting, and a wonderful crisp finish. Appearance wasn’t great, no head really, but the flavor made up for it. I like this because it actually complemented my sub, while many of my favorite IPAs overshadow food. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Nov 30, 2004 After stouts and porters, give me an IPA. And this one isn’t bad. Hazy amber body beneath a small but frothy white head. The familiar hint of grapefruit, some floral, and a modicum of malt. Good balance. Fairly light bodied with medium carbonation. The flavor is crisp and clean and refreshing. Citrusy. A good drink. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Nov 26, 2004 Dark amber color with no head. Light hop aroma. Disturbingly well balanced between malt and hops in the taste. There is the obvious floral and bitter elements, but the malt backbone is solid enough to actually support them. Not too complex, but a damn fine and tasty IPA. loomis (43), Ohio, USA Nov 19, 2004 Just a tad better in my opinion than the Sierra Nevada IPA. Nice hops. Nice finish. Good amount of bitterness, but not too much. Nice woody aftertaste. Solid Chicago brew. HopsOrDie (687), New Lenox, Illinois, USA Nov 17, 2004 Pours a murky light orange when the yeast is added in. Little white head that skims across the top of the body until the glass is empty. The aroma and flavor are dominated by earthy and citric hops. Some toasted malt flavor comes through. A slight bitterness in the end, but it lingers for quite a while.
