DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Jan 30, 2009 (11/23/08) Draught at Hop Leaf in Chicago. Deep amber color. Aroma of fresh piney hops and some cookie-ish malt. Flavor starts with sweet malt, caramel and some cookies. Continues with bitter hops, some pine needles and some citrus notes. Medium-bodied. Decent. afireinside96 (807), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 24, 2009 Bottle, served in a shaker. Medium-dark amber body topped by a minimal head. The nose to me smelled entirely like pool water, chlorine city. At first the flavor was rather nondescript, even though it was served at a proper temperature, but as I emptied the glass some subtleties of nuts, caramel, and grass emerged. It finishes with a decent bitterness. Certainly not as good as I envisioned when I read the description on the beer menu and definitely not worth the $6 I paid for it. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 23, 2009 courtesy of imperialking.
Pours copper with thick white/tan head.
aroma has light notes of hops and fruits, malts.
Taste, malty, lightly fruity with grapefruit and citrus with a nice bitter finish.
Notes of sweet brown sugar, well balanced not too bitter, smooth and thick mouthfeel.
Simple not too complex and straight to the point. I enjoyed that one a lot. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 22, 2009 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red-chestnut color with a large orange-tan head. The aroma was moderate notes of pine, grapefruit and sweet malts. The flavor was sweet and tangy with notes of pine and grapefruit and light nutty malts. The beer turns bitter and sour towards the finish. The finish was long and hop. Solid if unremarkable. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jan 22, 2009 Sampled from 12-oz bottle, picked up at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours an orange amber brew with an average white head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, pineapple, citrus zest and a hint of caramel malt. Taste is typical IPA bitterness, with flavors of grapefruit, pine, some citrus zest, some caramel malt that is pretty much covered by by the hop presence. Finish continues the mild hop bitterness that lingers after the finish. fdr137 (32), , New York, USA Jan 15, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber in color, with a little bit of off white head. Fresh hoppy aroma, citrus, grafefruit, Bitter hops at the start, a bit of a metallic flavor, followed by a little bit of malty sweetness. Mouthfeel is a little thin. JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Jan 12, 2009 Bitter hops, grapefruit aroma. Some metallic flavor with blood. It smells a lot better than it tastes. A little hazy. TKA300 (99), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Jan 10, 2009 Poured a solid amber color and smelled highly of citrus. Tasted like citrus hops and ended pretty malty. A really good, and local, IPA
