ilherps (212), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Jan 31, 2009 Tap in a snifter at two brothers tap house. Thin white head that emanates with aromas of pine, citrus, tropical fruits, and just a hint of malts, like caramel. The hop flavor is intense, the 100 ibus really hit you. Its sweet, and from that youd expect more of a caramel malt kick, but the hops really are overwhelming, nice and resiny, almost sticky. The beer finishes nice and long. Something I hope to enjoy again soon. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jan 26, 2009 22 oz bottle purchased at Chuck’s Liquor in Bowling Green. Poured a clear amber color with orange highlights, and a one finger off white head that quickly dissipated into only a few bigger bubbles. Lots of lacing present. The aroma contains mucho pine hops, caramel and a bit of citrus. The flavor was a sweet malt base, with sugar and caramel. A strong pine finish with lingering bitterness. There is also something in the middle that just doesn’t taste right. The palate was above average, with a slick and sticky mouthfeel, surprisingly soft carbonation and a medium body. Overall this is a decent beer, but just doesn’t rank up there with the Dreadnaughts, Plinys and Hopslams of the world. biker30x (3), , USA does not count Jan 23, 2009 On tap at 2 Bros in a snifter. Waves of pine resin, grapefruit & alcohol rising through the full almond colored head, lacing present throughout. Poured a thick hazy amber. Taste those hops. Pine, citrus and a hint of vanilla from the malt. The alcohol warms (burns?) the palate while the hops sting. It’s thick in your mouth and lingers with a floral/alcohol aftertaste. Surprisingly drinkable. The power of each flavor makes up for the lack (expected in a DIPA) of balance. Having also had it bottled, the only difference is a slightly increased vibrancy on tap. Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Jan 18, 2009 Bottle pours a slightly hazed amber red with a decent head and lots of lace. The aroma is of hops and some malt to anticipate a nice balanced IIPA. The flavor is seriously caramel, sugar cookies, hops and hops performed nicely. The palate is suitable for the sweet/bitter dance. This is a nice beer. I like it! Nuffield (2718), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jan 18, 2009 A run of the mill DIPA. Big flavors, decent aromas, notably grassy. Alcohol doesn’t show very much at all, but the basic hop character here is surprisingly unbalanced for a DIPA; it’s more like an IPA on drugs. Not my thing. Left me feeling really parched. LilBeerDoctor (1479), East Setauket, New York, USA Jan 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a deep dark orange with a small white head. Aroma of oranges, clementine, tangerine, and bready malt. Flavor is less citrusy, but there still is a slight tinge of citrusy hops, also some grassy hops, and bready malt. Pretty tasty.
8/4/7/4/14 (3.7/5) fredandboboflo (1392), East Setauket, New York, USA Jan 6, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of clementine, pine/piney potpourri, flowers, more citrus tones, bready malt. Flavor semi-resinous, semi-dry with very nice bitterness coupled with cookie dough/cookie malt. Bitter, semi-dry finish. Easy drinking, especially for 9.9%. Really becoming impressed with this largely unheralded brewery. jmm635 (249), Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 1, 2009 Pours a light amber color with an average sized off-white head. Aroma was terrific! Nice fresh hops on the nose with some floral notes. Same fresh hop flavor with a balanced maltiness. This brew is very drinkable at 10%. Very solid.
