Suprisingly smooth considering the absurd amount of hops in it. Just the right amount of body to smooth out the citrus, bitterness, and alcohol without being to sweet. Nice. A hop aroma, some bitter hops to start, but as it breathes and warms, it mellows out nice, with a nice malt balance, good brew! Thanks to Duane for the sample! lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 22, 2007 Pours copper with thick, creamy white head. Aroma is hoppy with nice underlying caramel maltiness and slight alcohol. Flavor is quite solid: ice bitter hops, caramel and toffee malt, a bit of toastiness and a little grain. Palate is thick and rich. A delicious double, but not exactly groundbreaking stuff. tytoanderso (1386), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 13, 2007 Bottle. Lots of sweet, resinous hops on the nose. Some sweet malt as well. Pours an oily copper/amber with a creamy white head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Flavor is a pretty straightforward IIPA. Oily hops, sweet malt, nothing too over the top or impressive. Rich and viscous on the palate. A nice long hoppy finish. An average IIPA. TechMyst (166), Fox River Grove, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 5, 2007 Slick palate. Serious hop sting. 100 IBU’s but not out of control; alcohol is masked well. Murky amber with deep ruby hue. Minimal head (I pour VERY slow) no retention on the honey yellow head. Medium mouthfeel. Conditioning is not harsh at all, and no bloating either. Well balanced. Laced in wispy rings. Like Maharaja / Dreadnaught. Very drinkable; LOVE it! MHED (112), lisle, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 4, 2007 Funny how you bring these guys at 2 Bros a sample of homebrew, then wallah! They brew a more professional version. Thats right. They once told me my hops tasted too"green". Well thats exactly what they use in this beer. Un- dried, "green hops" Coincidence? Maybe. I don’t buy it. This IPA is what it is. A light body with some dark caramel notes. very piney and grapefruity. Some grassynotes as well with some astringent bittering. So, I said it. Appearance: clear copper orange, thin fine beige head, touch of drippy lace,
Aroma: sweet piney aroma with plenty of hops,
Body: body is a bit thin,
Flavor: well balanced flavor with some piney sweetness to go along with lots of lingering bitterness, upon warming it turns into liquid hop juice very similar to ruination but with enough piney sweetness to balance it out, some body even shows up after a while
