uvajed (112), Ravenna, Ohio, USA Jan 18, 2007 Reviews of this seem to be all over the board as far as the characteristics this beer presents. Appearance was copper or maybe an orangey amber, small thick, off-white head that disappeared quickly but left some lacing on the glass.
Maybe something is wrong with my nose, or maybe with the beer? I detected only a faint aroma of alcohol, and maybe a bit of hops and pine. Definitely a very thin, watery feel, not at all like the syrupy feel someone else mentioned. Nice bitter hops finish, but not as great as I was expecting. Not as "extreme" as the label would suggest (I seriously wondered if my bottle was mislabeled or something), but surely worth a try for any hophead. Rockinout (945), Kent, Ohio, USA Jan 14, 2007 22 oz bottle. Rich golden color with a resin pine character throughout till the lingering finish. The last 1/5 of my bottle contained lots of sediment from big chinks to fine particles. Some but not a lot of alcohol detected. xmarcnolanx (789), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Jan 12, 2007 Jesus. Great beer. I love this beer. Seriously just put me into the stratosphere with the bitter finish and hoppy structure. smhncabot (310), Cabot, Arkansas, USA Jan 10, 2007 the aroma is sweet hoppiness. flavor is much the same. flavor is bolder than aroma. it has a decent bitter finish. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Jan 7, 2007 On cask and at room temperature. Yellowed amber with almost no head, white. Nose is rather sweet though not malty. The hops seem to provide sweetness. A little vinegar astringency. Mouthfeel on the watery side, and a little flat, even for a cask, but drinkable. Flavors a bit less balanced than the aroma. Hops obvious, astringency greater, lightly sweet, a bit herbal. Really light malt pleasant finish with herbal hops returning in the aftertaste. troyc (1173), Lubbock, Texas, USA Jan 6, 2007 (Tap at the Brewery) Pours an orange/copper color with a small white head. Hoppy aroma, with some light citrus notes. Full mouthfeel, with a borderline syrupy texture. Very hoppy, but not overpowering. The alcohol is hidden nicely in this one. Another good beer from Two Bros. eaglefan538 (2351), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Dec 28, 2006 Poured a deep amber color, cloudy w/ sedimentation, the initial head rather weak, but the lacing making a decent showing. The aroma was caramel, bitter citrus rinds, v. light diacetyl. The flavor was tea bags (strong), oranges, some nondescript sour notes, and finishing with a pine hop bitter finish. Alcohol was incredibly quiet in this thing at 9.9%. The mouthfeel was the best part, hearty, fully, very nice. Thanks to Bert for sharing, he’s a pal! Kevster (222), Bradenton, Florida, USA Dec 28, 2006 On tap: Pours a copper color with a medium off-white head that is mostly lasting with nice lacing. Aroma is strong citrus with hints of pine. Flavor starts sweet with hints of brown sugar and caramel. The it kicks in with a blast of hops in the bitter finish. Very tasty and enjoyable! A must try for any hopheads out there!
