Commercial Description:
Hop Juice is one of a series of special limited-run beers in styles that are more extreme or unusual. This one is a real hop blast, dripping with the resiny soul of fresh Northwest hops. Don't come crying to us if it's too much for you; this one's for hopheads only! And get it now, cause when it's gone, it's gone. Boo hoo. 22.7 Plato 100.1 IBU

Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow and tupalev - my bottle, thanks to my friend Dave B for this one. Poured murky orange with an average beige (almost yellow!) head. Muted but rich grapefruit and orange zest hop aroma, plenty of rich malt in there, but this is hops man ... Imperial IPA? I mean this is hoppy, but I’d say more IPA level - fresh, light lemon/orange/grapefruit bitterness, subtle malt and hardly any alcohol finishes a little like crushed balsam needles - 9.9%? Nawww. Mouthfeel is creamy, lightly acidic, average body, quick not very bitter finish - very nice but not spectacular. And quite restrained.

Any first impressions?
-A big-bubbled ring of head sits over a heavily sedimented orange pond.
-Wooden, sandy hops soar over the biscuity malts.
-Some caramel exists within the citrusy and resinous hoppiness.
-Mouthfeel is airy but bulked up to support the ambitious ingredients.

What if you dig deeper?
-A tree bark bitterness lingers agreeably.
-It does achieve some sort of balance, which is appreciable for a beer this size.
-Alcohol is well-positioned, never bothersome, and only accordingly warming.
-This is a competent Double IPA which won’t wow the traveling tastebuds, but which will satisfy most hop cravings.

Bottle; no date.

Nice amber color with a thin white head. Grapefruit and floral hp aroma. Same in the flavor but with a touch of sweetness in the draw. A good IIPA but doesn’t really stand out from the crowd.

Frothy small white head. Yellowish copper coloring. Nose is subtle citrus grapefruit not strong but not overpowering considering this is a double IPA. Compared to Hercules Double IPA, this one is very sweet and smooth. The bitterness kicks in right at the tail end after it goes down. Colonial Spirits in Acton, MA

Amber color. Hoppy aroma, with some hospital alcohol. The hoppiness is huge, aggressive, barely balanced by the malt, but I love hops…

orange in color with a big fluffy white head. nice lacing. intense piney floral hop aroma. flavor is a little lighter than some imperial ipas but still very good. mostly bitter hops with enough malt to balance the hops. medium body. long bitter hoppy finish. solid imperial ipa.

Pours a copper orange amber with an average fluffy white lacing head. Aroma of orange, pine and caramel. Could sense a little bit of the alcohol in the aroma but not much in the flavor. Flavor of pine, caramel, grapefruit and a little more on the watery side than I was expecting. A decent beer but not one of the best Double IPA’s I’ve had.

shared this bottle with Duane. Like Duane said, the hops didn’t seem as strong as they probably would have had we not just done a side-by-side of Two Hearted and Founders Centennial IPA, but nonetheless, tons of hops here. Not as much malt as I expected for a Double IPA, but this was pretty darn good anyway.
