Pours a clear, dark, orange-amber color with a small, frothy, cream colored head. Micro-spot lacing marks the glass. The aroma shows a prominent toffee malt base, with notes of biscuit and cookie, and a surprising dose of smoked dark fruit. Citrus hops and pine resin are there, but don’t quite stand up to the huge malt. Flavors show a bit more balance, with the citrus and pine hops pushing forward a bit. Gone is the odd smoked note, but buttered toffee and glazed biscuit are still there in a big way. Medium-full bodied and slightly syrupy, peppery citrus bitterness comes through on the finish. Pretty nice, but not nearly as hoppy as advertised. Rciesla (3600), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 12, 2009 Bottle. Pours an orange amber body with an off white head. Hops are grassy with citrus, sweet malt and a note of honey as well. A bit floral with a light spicy bite and moderate alcohol warming well masked by the hops. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA

Must admit I’d had Hopslam right before this...but still very good. This has more caramel malt than Hopslam does, so it was nice to have my tastebuds not obliterated for a second. Pours a clear medium amber with a one finger white head that results in great lacing. The nose is caramel malt and ripe citrus. The taste is sweet caramel malt upfront with sweet citrus and floral hops finishing it out. Medium sticky body. Pretty good DIPA, a tad sweet, but decent. pours a very nice orange hue with a long lasting tan head. aroma is full of hops that are very clean smelling lots of sweet grapefruit and other citrus. a little grain and a hint of caramel malt. the flavour is very surprising and nice plenty of sweet citrusy hops and lots of floralness too, the malt comes into the beer very well with a slight stickiness and great sweetness. very well balanced and great to drink. Almost no head, but laces as it fades down the glass. Aroma is full of American hops, very citrus-like a grapefruit. Initial taste is bitter, mid palate showcases the hops beautifully, but fades to harsh bitterness and alcohol warming at the end. Nice balance of malt sweetness. Definitely a beer to be savored. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 6, 2009 What a good beer! Pours a caramel hue with a nice off white head that leaves sticky lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel with pine. Feel is smooth as a prom queen’s thighs. Flavors are pine hop to the nines and caramel sweetness to match. Some applesauce and a bit of grapefruit. Nothing here is overpowering or over the top. This beer is delightful. dchmela (1426), Orlando, Florida, USA

Huge pine citrus resiny hop aroma. Big malt body with lots of big spicy citrus pine and just plain thick hop flavor. Big chewy and resiny. Pretty good DIPA.
