Sephiroth (65), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Feb 22, 2008 Poured into a tulip, this beer is a somewhat hazy orange color. The smell is of piney, citrusy hops.
I am impressed by the taste. It seems to have that same hop characteristic that I so love in their Heavy Handed IPA. I detect piney, resiney, citrus flavors. There is a considerable caramel malt backbone to this stuff. The mouthfeel is the lightest I have encountered in this style. I actually really enjoy the light body. The drinkability is high. As a registered hophead, I feel a binge coming on. I wish I could have had this fresh. I’m not sure when my bottle was brewed, but the early reviews go back to March, and the bottle says its a limited release brew. Get it before its gone.
LilBeerDoctor (797), East Setauket, New York, USA Jan 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a deep dark orange with a small white head. Aroma of oranges, clementine, tangerine, and bready malt. Flavor is less citrusy, but there still is a slight tinge of citrusy hops, also some grassy hops, and bready malt. Pretty tasty.
8/4/7/4/14 (3.7/5) fredandboboflo (771), East Setauket, New York, USA Jan 6, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of clementine, pine/piney potpourri, flowers, more citrus tones, bready malt. Flavor semi-resinous, semi-dry with very nice bitterness coupled with cookie dough/cookie malt. Bitter, semi-dry finish. Easy drinking, especially for 9.9%. Really becoming impressed with this largely unheralded brewery. jmm635 (124), Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 1, 2009 Pours a light amber color with an average sized off-white head. Aroma was terrific! Nice fresh hops on the nose with some floral notes. Same fresh hop flavor with a balanced maltiness. This brew is very drinkable at 10%. Very solid. blizzardlover (39), Minnesota, USA Dec 23, 2008 Pours a crystal amber color, with a small off-white head. First drink is strong, it hits you between the eyes. Sour, velvet, LOTS of hop. Floral. Alcohol present, but not overwhelming. Some carmel flavor. Very rich. Honey and grape fruit. Nice beer. DalzAle (82), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA Dec 19, 2008 22 oz. Bomber. Poured a crisp and clear dark orange color with a quarter inch head. Very bitter and grapefruity aroma. Slick and very syrupy mouthfeel. Flavors of vanilla, orange and a lingering warm alcohol aftertaste. A good beer to be shared with groups of hopheads.
