An incredibly drinkable ale, light in body but full of flavor. Oaky notes blend with the complex balance of malt and hops. This is a beer you can enjoy for the long haul.

Red-amber with a large, frothy bright-white head. Slightly sour Brett. and oaky, barnyardy nose. Very mild grainy-sweet flavor, turns a little sweeter as you hold it in your mouth. Ends husky. A session ale, sure. But pretty bland. 2010 Western Illinois University Performing Arts Society Beerfest.

SUCK IT mattyb83!!!! 73/73 Beer Styles Here it is!!! On tap at Grumpy’s NE pours cloudy brown with off with head. Aroma is a sweet caramel malts, spice, and fruits. Taste heavily of caramel malts, some spice, watery, vanilla, bread. Definitely a session beer very drinkable, but not really impressed.

Bottle (blend of 3 bottles, same vintage, poured into a 1L mug). Pours a clear dark brown with a thick off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, grains, oatmeal. Flavor of grainy, sweet malt with sweet fruits (apple skins, pear). Thin palate. Not a very flavorful mild ale and a little too sweet for my tastes. 6/4/6/3/12 [3.1/5]

Bottle received from Headbanger. Pours clear amber with an average, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, meal, cereal), average hops (herbal), and average esters (apple/pear). Flavor is heavy malt (bread, light toast), average hops (spicy, earthy), and light esters (apple/pear). Light body, low warmth and creaminess, medium carbonation with a dry and biting finish.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2013 Tap. Murky amber-brown pour with a thin foamy white head. Aroma is mildly sour. Taste is also sour - is the keg okay? I also get some caramel, oak, and vanilla, but muted.

hazy copper pour. Medium tight foamy head. aroma has very soft caramel malt tones. Defintely getting some oaky vanilla. Carbonation is soft but present. Flavour has black tea, light floral hop, some vanilla very interesting stuff.

Bottle and served in Ommegang tulip: Nice multi hued amber to golden sheen with a frothy head which produced nice lacework upon the glassware. The nose picks up an initial slight sour apple and lacto character over a layer of brown and caramel malts supported by some oak and mineral vapours. The taste is sadly not up to the expectations brought about by the visual and aroma characteristics. There is a bed of spent grains with a lactic sourness and spoiled vegetable on top. A hint of ripened fruit and grassy herbal tones round out the flabby palate. The mouth feel is equally uninspiring, chalky and tannic without much to counteract against. This beer started so promising but ultimately fails to match those initial promises with something more than a convoluted mesh mash of flavors.

Leighton (18525) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2010
Tap at Blind Tiger, NYC. Pours copper with a strong, white head. Holds a light malt aroma with floral hops. Lighly sweet, bready with some reserved bitterness. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes semi-dry, sweet with faint hops. I’d say this is an OK beer, and I do really enjoy milds.

Pours golden orange with white head. Aroma is lemongrass, bit of biscuit. Taste is lemon, biscuit, a touch of oak, and a clean finish. Nice session brew.

RSRIZZO (1949) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - AUG 4, 2010
12oz bottle courtesy of Headbanger poured into a English Pint at 45°. Color is golden brown with good carbonation and a nice off white head. Aroma of toasted caramel and a little alcohol. It has a lighter medium body that goes down with a smooth mouth feel. Flavor comes in with a mild sweet malt taste then a hint of hop and an even bitterness. After taste is clean letting the bitterness fade out quickly. Overall its an easy drinking and refreshing brew.
