3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 smooch (238) - Sylvania, Ohio, USA - JUL 5, 2010
Deep, deep amber color. Not much aroma that I can pick up. The first drink is just goofy...perhaps it is way too much oak. This is unlike most any other beer I’ve every had. Very cream mouthfeel that lingers a bit. It is a nice balance except that the "oak" flavor is too overwhelming.

Pours a cloudy orange gold color with a white head. Taste of fruit and hops. Quite an average beer.

Enjoyed on draft at Goose Island Clybourn in Chicago, I also had this at Two Brothers’ Hop Juice release party in draft form. Aroma is of fruity strawberry and malt, appearance is amber with good head retention. Taste is malty with tart fruit finish, definitely taste some form of preserves, like a strawberry jam finish. Pretty good stuff, would enjoy again.

Copper pour with a short lived off white head. Spotty lace. Aroma is toasty, cereal, biscuits. Malty with nice bitterness. Light vanilla flavor late..

Bottle. Pours a coppery amber with a little head and aromas of sour cherries and grain dust. Flavor is surprisingly sour with cherries and oak. A bit odd, wondering if it was intentional or not. Finish is pie cherries and oaky barrels.

I’m surprised that Mild ales aren’t more popular. Low alcohol so they can fill some of the same niche as pale lagers but much fuller flavored. I think this does a decent job at that. A pleasantly unusual flavor as well. Serving: Bottle
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Dragonfly1 (414) - - MAY 21, 2010
Bottle. Dark copper and whit fluffy head. Musty aroma. First sip is fruity- peaches, nectarines, and a strong green grape flavor that doesn’t go away. Body is thin and watery. Color and lacing looking like the only redeemable thing about this one. Weird sour finish with some more musty grass. 5 more to go, ugh...

Biscuit Malts caramel touch of hops in the aroma. Smooth medium body. Sweet older malts earthy lots of biscuit caramel and toasted malts. Finishes dry. Ok 7/3/6/3/13 3.2

Pours a clear copper with a small white head. The aroma is weak, with light bread notes, some floral hops, and a vegetal woodiness. Light on flavor, with cereal, what seems like Saaz hops, and light, fresh wood. Crisp finish, some bitterness. Not bad, very mild indeed.
2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Braudog (5060) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - MAY 6, 2010
Draft at the brewery. Dark! This has an oddly sour aroma which put my partners off. But if you get past that this has an interesting vanilla/oaky thing going on. Different. (#3889, 5/6/2010)
