COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An incredibly drinkable ale, light in body but full of flavor. Oaky notes blend with the complex balance of malt and hops. This is a beer you can enjoy for the long haul.

A: The pour on this beer is amber in color with a thin layer of off-white head. S: A really funky nose on this beer. Some light tartness and fruit with quite a lot of oak. There is a bit of hop character and some sweet bready and toffee malts. Not sure what to make of this. T: The flavor is actually sort of nice. Some lightly tart apple flavor which is quite enjoyable. A light maltiness of bread and toffee. Again, there is a big time oak character. M: Light to medium in body with a medium carbonation. O: Really a strange beer. The idea just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Tap at Blind Tiger, NYC. Pours copper with a strong, white head. Holds a light malt aroma with floral hops. Lighly sweet, bready with some reserved bitterness. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes semi-dry, sweet with faint hops. I’d say this is an OK beer, and I do really enjoy milds.

Deep amber pour with a thin sticky white head. The nose is slightly earthy and oaky. There is the faintest kiss of tartness in there that doesn’t really get me going. A little bit of caramel and toffee with a bit of light chewy tartness. On the end of the palate, it still has its body intact. A touch of cherry and even a bit of lemony citrus. Unusual with a nice soft sweetness. I really want to like this, but I don’t. The odd lacto character clashes with the soft malty sweetness.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2011 Sample at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing. Mild hops and malt aroma. Medium, smooth body with flavors of woody hops, malt and grain. The finish is malty with a grain aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

DruncanVeasey (7098) - NUNEATON, Top 13, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JAN 4, 2012
Bottle from New Beer Distributors, NYC, drank at The Dessie whilst packing for the next phase of the adventure...Pours an attractive, lazing copper capped with beige. Soft, raisiny aroma with hints of Curly Wurly and chestnut like a (proper, English) Brown Ale. Soft, integrated beer with a dominant milk choc caramel and raisin character; fruit cake notes. Very decent, understated brew- Brothers seem to know what they’re doing.
